  1. This looks like it will be the largest Terry Black's location, I know most of it will be parking, but still. Super excited!
  2. PRAYING this falls through because what the actual hell..... 38 parking spots for a tiny 2,500 sqft building?? Facing Lexington instead of Shepherd?? Building looks like it occupies 20% of the land...surrounded by parking... The drive thru sign indicates a Starbucks because thats their drive-thru sign...the last thing we need is another Starbucks (theres literally 2 other Starbucks walking distance from here) I hate to be negative, but this building would be a huge negative
  3. More about Houston Methodist opening a "health care innovation hub" at the Ion https://communityimpact.com/houston/bellaire-meyerland-west-university/health-care/2022/08/15/houston-methodist-to-open-health-care-innovation-hub-at-ion-facility-in-midtown/
  4. Isn't there going to be a live wall on the garage? (garden on the sides of the garage)
  5. This project, Montrose Collective, and MKT all share a similar beautiful aesthetic. These are actual beautiful shopping centers that really changes the face of the area. Hope to see more of these type of projects spread around town; no more cookie cutter shopping centers for the love of god.
  6. Nothing is worse than the new drive thru daiquiri shops that legit sell you alcohol while you're behind a wheel. Its all fun and games until someone dies from a drunk driver......which is about every night.
  7. 77 years ago it was $35,000?!?! Isn't that a little low even for 77 years ago? Was Houston that cheap back then?
  8. This has a pretty large presence driving south on i59. Its pretty exciting because the last time a building with this height was built on this stretch of 59 (Montrose-610) was a while ago.
  9. Yeah, but its not only about having a restaurant on site, its about getting rid of that asphalt parking lot
  10. New cleaning equipment for Buffalo Bayou! https://communityimpact.com/houston/heights-river-oaks-montrose/environment/2022/08/03/group-adds-new-vacuum-vessel-to-buffalo-bayou-cleanup-operation/
  11. This warehouse/ previous body shop is going to be a new restaurant called Doves. It's southern inspired "vibe dinning." Its on a huge lot for just 1 restaurant. Instagram link shows what to expect for the interior and exterior https://www.instagram.com/p/CdMReJtDFvB/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=e51e00d3-90f4-4906-9038-73385e3865c0
  12. If South Texas College of Law decides to sell their parking lot down the line, this would be an amazing location for a restaurant. Kind of like how the Grove in Discovery Green compliments the park.
  13. I hope we get a good deal mainly because I read that we don't get paid anywhere near as much as other arenas too In order: Scotiabank Arena in Toronto: 30M per season Chase Center in San Francisco: 15M per season Capital One Arena in DC: 10M per season Barclays Center in Brooklyn: 10M per season Philips Arena in Atlanta: 8.75M per season American Airlines Center in Dallas: 6.5M per season Little Caesars Arena in Detroit: 6.25M per season Golden 1 Center in Sacramento: 6M per season Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee: 6M per season TD Garden in Boston: 6M per season Ball Arena in Denver: 6M per season Crypto.com Arena in LA: 5.8M per season United Center in Chicago: 5M per season Spectrum Center in Charlotte: 5M per season Finally....Toyota Center in Houston: 4.75M per season The Rockets are good, the location is perfect (in the middle of the 4th largest city in America), almost all large concerts in the city occur at Toyota Center.....my point is, we deserve A LOT more. Also, in terms of how to stadium looks and feels, A LOT needs to be done IMO
  14. Beautiful! However, they better not take out that tree directly in front of the house thats not in the renderings 👺
  15. I think the issue is that both Kamalan and the Dumpling place occupied an entire lot/ building. Their sales probably didn't justify rent, it would have made more economic sense for them to rent a smaller space in a larger building rather than occupying an entire building. I feel like the area is doing really well, the urban building directly in front with Spenga and the pharmacy seem to be doing well. Not to mention, the building down the street with Polish dentistry, Midtown dentist that occupies an old house, El Tiempo, a bunch of law firms in old houses, Soto Sushi, the new shopping center close to Bagby/ Elgin is already fully leased. My main point is i don't think a bakery can support a single use building in this portion of westheimer (we all know rent is pretty pricey here). IMO IMO IMO, I think this portion of Westheimer needs to go a bit more vertical (even just 2 stories) for rent/ urbanization/ walkability to make sense. As pretty/ nostalgic the old houses are, its neither helping with rent in the area nor is it helping with urbanism/ walkability.
  16. 😅 I've only stayed at Sheraton Grand in LA (which was nice) and thought they were all at least least similar in style/design......which is clearly not the case here. Also, I'm hopeful that maybe they'll eventually change the exterior...even just a bit? fingers crossed
  17. The Sheraton at 2400 West Loop South will be rebranded as The Chifley, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. It will host a new restaurant/ bar called "Rouse" that serves a fusion of barbecue, Mexican, and asian cuisine. New hotel website: https://thechifleyhouston.com https://houston.culturemap.com/news/city-life/07-25-22-the-chifley-houston-hotel-uptown-rouse-restaurant-bar-rooms-tapestry-collection-by-hilton/#slide=0 Set to open November, 2022. seems like most of the renovations are interior. Some before pictures 😅 I always thought Sheraton was considered semi luxurious, these pics kind of hurts hurts my eyes
  18. Whatever ends up happening here will 10000% be better than a suburban style CVS, super stoked it closed.
  19. Does this mean Cloud 10 is closing? This area is going to look completely different in the next few years with the redesigning of Shepherd and the change of businesses along it; it's much needed.
  20. https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/07-11-22-james-coney-island-jci-grill-shepherd-location-closed-shuttered/ They actually shut down quietly last week
  21. https://houston.culturemap.com/news/fashion/07-13-22-marc-jacobs-galleria-houston-hours-bags-shoes-clothes-accessories/ Galleria getting the state's first Marc Jacobs store late this summer.
  22. Completely agree, I legit do not understand why drivers wouldn't want to get more people off the road and into other modes of transportation. It would literally help them in the end too. But its their fear mongering attitude, that we're just going to go door to door and take their cars and highways away 💀
  23. Again, you're only thinking about yourself, typical "Young and carefree" 😂 you're literally a contradiction dude, I'm carefree? I'm literally thinking about others who can't afford a car, who can't drive from place to place and sit and listen to "whatever music you like." You do realize this activities can still be done even if other modes of transportation exist right? You do realize this don't have this problem in NYC, Chicago, all of Europe, and many asian countries right? You do realize there's a world outside of your bubble right? You don't even know me dude, you making false assumptions is so on brand with every single one of your posts. You don't know that I have every single one of those things you mentioned 😂 but your tactics are obvious at this point, deflect, deflect, and deflect from that actual topic. That's obviously not the problem with i10 and you clearly don't know what you're talking about. For someone soo "seasoned" you really have a hard to grasping logic. "If all highways were like Katy fwy outside the loop, things would flow better"....... literally a 10 year old would even question, what about as soon as they all exit the highway into the 2-3 lane streets? You can't just make every highway 26 lanes then keep the streets 2-3 lanes. Also, I thought its also common sense that not every highway is expandable because of the neighborhoods around it, should we just tear up have the Galleria and those skyscrapers? Oh maybe we can tear down the Ion district they just built! Wait wait no actually, lets tear up memorial park on both sides so we can expand the 610 and i10 to 26 lanes :) Is it really that hard to grasp? I'll end with this, the difference between the "young" and the "I like to listen to music in my car" generation is that, the young want to improve the quality of life. The older generation only care about big businesses that literally do not care about anyone.
