  1. I live in the uptown area and it truly sucks how we have absolutely no bike lanes....like at all...zero. I feel like one going down Richmond from beltway 8 all the way to midtown makes sense in my opinion. Traffic on Richmond isn't anywhere near as bad as other streets, so creating a bike lane and connecting Westchase district to Uptown to Greenway to Midtown seems like it would be the obvious answer :/
  2. I could have sworn there was already a thread on this, but this is going to be affordable senior housing. The demo is well underway as of this morning!
  3. Looks like they're building it up to the street with parking in the back!
  4. This is pretty huge in my opinion, old Jones Coney Island is being demo'd and a new restaurant called Artisan's will replace it. Seems like a pretty huge price tag!
  5. Its close to Columbus Tx if that helps :)
  6. We have a remodel permit!! Also, could we move this topic to "Uptown and Galleria Area," this isn't anywhere near "River Oaks/Upper Kirby/ Greenway Plaza/ Bissonnet"
  7. Neiman's is getting remodeled, looks like its only interior though. It honestly needs a very thorough remodel, the store is very outdated, especially for one of their highest performing store in the nation. Fun fact: our Saks store is the highest performing Saks in the nation (outside of NYC's store) and I believe our Neiman's is either number 1 or 2 in the nation.
  8. There's definitely a silver lining here! The foundation has been built for a potential beautiful rooftop. This restaurant didn't utilize the space well but I guarantee the next restaurant to take over definitely will.
  9. Thank goodness, this was much much needed!
  10. This is only for perspective. Also, I experienced each of these cities and my perspective is similar to these images San Antonio Philadelphia (recently named top 10 river walks in the country) NYC London Amsterdam The point of my post isn't to bash any of these beautiful cities. My point is that, the color of the bayou literally does not matter. People don't avoid boardwalks/ river walks just because of the water color, its all about the atmosphere. We have such a negative attitude towards our bayous with things we legit cannot change. Instead we should be focusing on making it more interactive instead of focusing on something that does not matter and will not change. I believe developments like this have done a great job being denser and closer to the bayou. Other excuses that legit don't matter "but flooding," Amsterdam has had a history with flooding for hundreds of years, but they practically fixed this issue with proper flood control. "but mosquitoes," the San Antonio river walk has bad mosquitos... Also, there is an area in Milan called Navigli, which is basically a canal with hundreds of restaurants and cafes, its extremely crowded with people....and guess what, the mosquito problem there is soo bad. Its actually so bad that there are vendors that sell mosquito spray throughout the strip, some restaurants even had it for their costumers, but that didn't stop anyone :) We can only blame poor city planning
  11. There's been a 64% decrease in Homelessness in Houston since 2011. Fact sheet from Coalition for Homeless Houston: https://irp.cdn-website.com/2d521d2c/files/uploaded/Homeless Count 2022_fact sheet_final.pdf Multiple other sources also suggest the same https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/houston/2022/03/16/421190/houstons-unhoused-population-dropped-due-to-a-200-million-investment-a-new-report-says/ https://www.planetizen.com/news/2022/06/117494-how-houston-eliminating-chronic-homelessness https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/14/headway/houston-homeless-people.html
  12. This tiny building is getting demolished, I believe it's currently used as La Tapatia parking (restaurant is across the street). Anyone have any idea what may go here? It feels like such a waste for more parking.
  13. The restaurant will have a DJ as well as bottle service. It's supposed to be fine dining with an emphasis on entertainment and the vibe. The restaurant is inspired by Sexy Fish in Miami which is actually a really nice place. Link with more info: https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/09-07-22-se7en-new-restaurant-upper-kirby-collection-vibe-dining-nightclub-frank-edosomwan/#slide=0 Here are the renderings for the inside and outside (tree patio)
  14. This is great, that portion of W. Gray really needed it! 👺 But hasn't Montrose Tirz started on the craters along Westheimer already 👺
  15. The Heights definitely has style and people moving there for that aesthetic make sense. However, I wouldn't necessarily say money is a factor. For example, Rice village is in the heart of one of the most expensive zip codes in the state yet it still looks outdated even with their "remodel." The rest of Kirby outside the UK district also looks outdated and filled with nothing but strip centers. Same goes with the galleria area with exception of Post Oak blvd. Same with Montrose, the only thing that feels updated is Montrose Collective. I really hope the rest of Houston can eventually catch up to the Heights.
  16. Went to Post the other day on Tuesday and it was packed. Also, went last week and they had a "market" going on; local artists were selling their pieces and a local singer was performing . Some days they have yoga on the roof. They host numerous events. Im so glad Houston now has a community space outside of the traditional "Galleria mall." Let's admit it, when guests come in from out of town, the galleria was the only urban community space we could take them to. Discovery green is nice, but its just a park. We desperately needed this project, can't wait to see what they have in store once they're complete. Side note, don't get me wrong, I love the Galleria. However, I hate the idea that a mall is the first place many Houstonians take their guests in the 4th largest city in America. That feels like a mid-size/ small-size city problem.
  17. Did some research and these buildings usually have really neat amenities (idk if this is already the norm) Fully furnished units (if desired) In house crew professional cleaning An app for the building that lets you unlock doors, register for classes, or chat with the building crew Huge co-working space + private work space Not only a gym, but private lockers and a studio that offers classes like pilates, yoga, kick boxing, etc. Also, if anyone wants a perspective what it might look like, the X Phoenix is somewhat similar to our renderings except their garage is covered and it's a bit shorter. Phoenix Denver
  18. It would look so much better if they went with a more industrial design on the top floors to match the garage, this looks like a garage wearing a fancy hat :( Still have hope it will come out better than the rendering :(
  19. How does the Heights manage to attract all these beautiful buildings? Almost every building that goes up in the Heights has unique architecture. Wish this would spread to other parts of Houston; the west side of town is in desperate need of anything other than a strip center.
  20. TxDOT retains funding for i45 project https://abc13.com/unified-transportation-program-txdot-plan-adopted-i-45-expansion-project-houston-north-highway-improvement/12183190/
  21. This is by far my favorite view of downtown. The skyline looks soo huge! I just hate that we can't really appreciate it unless we're driving down the highways or live in a high-rise :( We really neeeeeeeeed an observation tower/ building
