  1. You could have made your point without blaming his youth, but you make very good points. The thing is, if he asks for our viewpoints, we owe him an honest try at it. The views we currently have were certainly not attained by our education system, but rather by experience.
  2. I believe it was on ch. 13 where I saw it, and deduced the exact location of the body. It wasn't on "the path" but the idiot little forest there. I betting her pimp did her/him in.
  3. I don't think the "sleazy" apartments have anything to do with it. I've seen them milling around by 611 and on Fairview and have a sneaking suspicion that they come from other parts of the city. If anything, I think a bike patrol would do wonders in this particular section, if for traffic control alone! Hopefully, as the city puts more cops out on the street, they will be able to dedicate a few of them on this beat alone. They scatter the minute they see an HPD cruiser coming around the corner.
  4. Actually, right against the spur. They put up those idiotic bushes up against there and it makes for an excellent hiding spot. I've seen more than a few bums come in and out of the place and saw quite a few get flushed out when HPD had a horse and bike patrols flushing out both sides of that area. Hopefully, they will start it up again, the area had fewer bums in the area. Right now (supposedly) Audobon is a place where you wanna find some hookers. Never seen evidence of it myself, but then again, I'm not looking.
  5. epileptic seizure? Maybe he's now drooling on the keyboard.
  6. BRTs, from what I understand usually have their own ROW. There is plenty of room on one side of HW3 to do one, but the bottleneck would be going over the causeway and into the HOV. It can be a relatively cheap solution while trying to show ridership numbers so a full fledged one can eventually be constructed. Of course, the way things are made, I'll be 6ft in the ground for a number of years before THAT phase would come into being.
  7. That's because it was an election RUNOFF. They were the ones with the highest amount of votes without a majority.
  8. What Joe Wilson did was inexcusable and uncalled for. There is a time and place to call out the president, particularly if you're in the political process. To do so in a public chamber being broadcast over the entire world, shows a complete lack of respect for the office. And you have to remember, *I* am not a fan of Obama.
  9. To be fair, many thought Clinton was going to be the worst president ever and I was one of them. I'm glad that I was proven wrong and looking back he turned out to be one of our better ones. Only history can show how well a president does.
  10. Frankly, I think you are mistaken. It could be construed as a Diplomatic blunder. The 41st administration had quite a few of those at around the time and The United States was trying to stay in an "Isolationist" mode.
  11. I have to agree with Fuzzy's since it's close to his offices. Was never a FAN of H.W.Bush, but I had respected him. Yeah, the guy that was spouting stuff at him was a total tool. "Millions?" Please. Saddam killed more.
  12. Friend of mine just moved in a few weeks ago and I was quite impressed with it, I was a bit taken aback by how the walkways and some of the interior designs. Was only able to get this one shot so far from the parking lot inside, but I'll see what I can get next time.
  13. This is one example I could find of a guy not going down. Granted, he's going to be bruised, but it convinced him that he didn't want to face another. Otherwise I agree with you, but if all you're going to do is piss him off, you need to have a better backup plan. I've shot at people who tried to steal a car in the past (I think I winged him), and I won't hesitate to do so again. I work hard for what I have and I don't have it in me to give them a chance to do it again without some sort of consequence. Never could understand the mentality of people that like to steal other people's stuff for a living.
  14. I agree, and can appreciate that, but it isn't that much of a deterrent he if decides to pull something out something with a bit more kick. Adrenalin does interesting things to a human body and he may not even feel it.
  15. That's quite true, but why not simply load it with birdshot since it does the same thing? It leaves a deep enough of an imprint on the suspect that it leaves a trail of blood for law enforcement to prove they were in their house. Not to mention if he's not caught and survives, he will remember not to hit THAT house again. Otherwise, a beanbag will just leave a bruise and remember that might be the worse he will face....if he comes back.
  16. Isn't Detroit (or some other Michigan city) also thinking about shrinking their city limits in an attempt to concentrate their resources to the city core as opposed to empty subdivisions. Now the question is, would all that land revert to the County and they would have to deal with that headache?
  17. Pity about the trumpet player. Hopefully that wasn't a vital finger.
  18. I've been following this before it the chronicle (article) and this saddens me quite a bit. Having gone here a couple of times and its never been rowdy, but I've heard of some of the goings on with the neighbors over at the tower. Knowing this has been going on for a few months, I NEVER thought it would go up to this level, but I guess when grownups don't behave like grownups, it happens. Wouldn't the Tower's management be responsible for the owner's behavior? Now that the co-owner took things in his own hands, I'm afraid this establishment might be in trouble now that he's been charged with assault, any resulting lawsuit might sink this business.
  19. I think BRT would be a good solution. I 45 will eventually upgraded and an HOV or BRT line could be added, until then they can use HWy 3 can be used until it can jump on the current HOV system. The service level can be adjusted depending on usage, special events, season, or evacuation. Then again, we may have brought this up two or three pages ago.
  20. I'd pay money to say that. TV's newest show: "Urban cooking adventures, with TheNiche." Piss off, Iron Chef.
  21. So THAT is where the fireworks coming from! I was wondering about that. "Ruggles green?"
  22. Well, it might take awhile, but I'm sure it will eventually be filled up. The Empire state building had a substantial vacancy rate until after the war if I remember correctly.
  23. I do notice you have a tendency to have to repeat yourself a few times. It's akin to simply listening to yourself speak. But I'm going off topic on that. Ed, are you more apt to move into a High Rise or a particular neighborhood? Considering this is your site, I figure you would piece together quite a bit of what we have talked about in the past.
  24. I'm just thrilled back I cashed out in 2000 and my procrastination worked in my favor...for once. Quite frankly, I think the unions NEED to go. They have pushed the unit prices for various products to the point where it wasn't that profitable to sell it to the local consumers. I've been harping on that since the early 2000's.
