  1. In the driver's defense, you can't stop a bus going 30 mph in the same distance as a car. Even if the driver DID slam on his breaks, the passengers could possibly be hurt by being thrown around. In my humble opinion, buses should have a speed limit of 20-25 MPH in that area. As far as I know, there have been two fatalities: A Katrina moron walking on the tracks with headphones on, and another who also ran a red light one or two blocks from that area.
  2. I would hope that Metro would get it's entire share back if the Mayor wants to drastically reduce or eliminate the fares. Does anyone have a breakdown on how Metro's 1% is broken down to?
  3. There is no red light camera at that intersection. I'm willing to bet the driver, depending on his/her record, will receive a ticket at the least and a firing at the worst.
  4. Fast work, Ed! Actually, the hospitals were probably overwhelmed and decided to split them up or they had a hospital of choice for their insurance. I prefer Methodist if I had a choice. preliminary reports say that the bus driver ran the light. The camera from the rail will show eventually.
  5. I watched the program, he DID say it, but said it in such a small blurb towards the end of the report and I almost missed it. Now if Metro would only get their collective head out of their behinds and actually ADVERTISE this.
  6. Ch. 13 is going to run a story on them. Only got a quick look at the teaser, but it looks like they're about to get lynched.
  7. How many 3rd World countries have you been in? Not to say it's not rough, but geez.
  8. Oh? Anything you can share without revealing sources?
  9. Could be because I wasn't registered. Ohwell.
  10. This was the examiner last week, but the online version is pathetically short. The printed version went on to say that some of the businesses that will need to be relocated were: The Davenport Big City News (adult bookstore, I'm sure the neighbors will be glad...at least most of them) among several others. The thing that irritates me is that they were going to include a link on the site to some PDF on what parcels need to be purchased/Demo'ed, but failed to do so. Instead, they simply put up a highly condensed version of the article. Lazy Bastages.
  11. in downtown, anything less than 30 stories is a disappointment.
  12. Here's a link. sky sky⋅scrap⋅er /ˈskaɪˌskreɪpər/ [skahy-skrey-per] –noun 1. a relatively tall building of many stories, esp. one for office or commercial use. 2. Architecture. a building of exceptional height completely supported by a framework, as of girders, from which the walls are suspended, as opposed to a building supported by load-bearing walls. Just sayin'.
  13. Happened to be rolling by there and noticed a HUGE house that looks like it's going to be moved in the near future. Didn't have the camera with me, but from what I can see, it looks like it's going to go down 11th. Anyone has any news on it? I'd love to take a few pics of it when it's moving, the thing is HUGE.
  14. 13: For NIMBYs to STFU. 14: For Outter Loopers to STFU and stay out of our business. EDIT: oops.
  15. page not found. Edit: Interesting that it worked only from the transtar website.
  16. with this economy, I don't think anything dramatic will change it to anything other than typical office space. It would be nice for someone with deep pockets to buy it and think beyond the current economy to make something more substantial.
  17. Do you think there is something in the physiology of people living there that would do that? One can distinctly tell from one country to the next by the way they (naturally) smell due to their diet.
  18. I believe it's highland village or thereabouts. If I remember correctly, it MIGHT be Drexel at Westiemer.
  19. Don't really see a way they WOULD make a profit of it. Having been to a bar in Webster, where they are allowed to smoke, didn't seem more crowded than any other bar. I did cough more, though.
  20. I agree, ever since I got my G1, I would use that even at home, but it was a pain to post on forums and so it has dissuaded me from doing that. People are bemoaning the fact that it doesn't have multitask capability, cameras or whatever, don't know that it's important to have a proper tool to do the proper job. I will want to hold one in my hands and play with it before buying one for myself. Music? Eh. I got XM in the car and and occasionally use Pandora at home. Movies? At home, I don't need it. I got my beloved TiVo (and soon, BluRay). I just don't see the need for it. Games? Maybe. If it can handle Civilization or Homeworld while I have some downtime, then I'm down for it. Just don't expect anything productive. For 10 hours. Internet? I might use it as a substitute for the laptop at home, and might use it when I'm out and about. But only IF I have a WiFi connection. Books? Oh Yeah, but if I can get a big enough of a selection and ONLY if they can keep it competitive with Amazon's Kindle service, including magazines for a decent price. Photos? That's what I got a camera for. Now if it can EDIT them, then I'm down with that. If anything, it's TOO capable, but for just a hundred or so above a kindle, it's a bargain.
  21. I called it. LOL, but I figured it would be at least a week or so more before hearing from the Bellaire Mayor. Forgot all about the concert component with the stadium, they would go nuts if they held a the Warp Tour or a truck rally of some sort.
  22. I'm impressed you even remember the show. Had more than a few friends who can't remember a thing after they walked in. Might have something to do something in the air or some such. I prefer to do my tailgating in an air conditioned room with plenty of beer.
  23. I'm buying one for my daughter the minute (and myself) it shows that doesn't need to cart that many books around and has some savings. As a person that is an avid reader, I wouldn't mind carrying a variety of books around whenever I am in the mood for something relaxing to read.
  24. Well, from what I've seen, more people hang out before a game than after it. Talking to a couple of bartenders they tell me if the local teams win, people will stick around for additional drinks and celebrate. When I go to an Astros game, I make an entire day out of it, starting at about noon.
