  1. I intending to put in a few notes on the various pics, but it won't let me edit. Anyway, it was quite a challenge do to this on the "run" so to speak. Also note that MP is highly visible after you pass the Maxwell plant. Speaking of the maxwell plant, I was quite concerned when I saw the 18-wheeler making a turn onto Harrisburg and wondered if that is going to be a problem when the line is finished.
  2. Had a little extra time to kill, so I traced out most of the route before construction.
  3. It must be a slow newsday, actually saw the coverage on CNN. At least they got most of the facts straight.
  4. I'm willing to place money on it, yeh.
  5. You also seem to ignore the fact that this was a about some sort of personal grudge and has nothing to do with "urbanism." That and two security personel who had their hands tied and were more concerned with CYA than the victim. Try again.
  6. If downtown gets more popular, they're going to have to install one of these in several different parts of downtown.
  7. I don't think that people that do a bad things are people that need a mental adjustment. Period. Whether or not this does make them fly straight is yet to be determined, but how many times have we seen people commit crime in their youth continue the pattern before they finally make the news? I've broken a few traffic laws in the past, but all were not intentional (except for that incident outside of Pecos, Texas...but that's a different story), but I have never zoomed down the Freeway at 90mph for thrills. Am I a bad person? That's not for me to say, but then again, ask anyone's opinion about anyone and you'll eventually get someone who doesn't like them.
  8. Depending on the nature of the offense, people will "generally" continue their behavior until they are caught again. In this case, a couple of them MIGHT have learned their lesson and gotten a talking to by their parents, but I doubt the others will be that bright.
  9. While I don't agree with the sentence, I'm sure they will screw up their probation.
  10. This is true, but I feel much better now that the Red put his spin on the jail rumor. Does this mean you'll have a freak-out if you happen to see an elephant wearing a black hood?
  11. I can see how that would be a concern for the elephant and the handlers. Then again, you would expect the guy to be restrained before the squishing. I've seen people die in different ways, but I don't think I would be able to watch that, though. I wonder if the elephant wears an executioner's hood?
  12. My memory is sketchy on this, but I don't recall if this Redline was on the ballot, even if it did, I'm sure the added costs would have made it die at the polls. Like someone said, people don't like spending money on infrastructure.
  13. I wonder how you train an elephant to step on a human? "You! Elephant! Step on the squishy thing. Ignore the yells!" stepping on the cat could require a tap dancing one, though.
  14. I agree with others in that there are too many options that are available. Let the festival happen and change with the times and close it down the street for it. As I have harped on before, I think they are better shutting down Westheimer and make it a "bus only" street. The street from Bagby to Mandell is a nightmare to navigate to begin with.
  15. So you're saying more than 50% of the drivers are unprofessional? Please. I know a few drivers and all of them seem to have their head on straight. The biggest problem they have is other drivers being cognizant of what it takes to drive such a massive machine and the pressure they are under as they always seem to be targeted by other cars and pedestrian on the roads. To say that "MOST" of the drivers are unprofessional smacks of painting a broad paintbrush on a complicated issue you have no clue on. Sorta' like "It's Obama's fault my water main broke!"
  16. Tell you what, that meeting in the meeting in the morning should be rather exciting. I would love to be in it.
  17. In the driver's defense, you can't stop a bus going 30 mph in the same distance as a car. Even if the driver DID slam on his breaks, the passengers could possibly be hurt by being thrown around. In my humble opinion, buses should have a speed limit of 20-25 MPH in that area. As far as I know, there have been two fatalities: A Katrina moron walking on the tracks with headphones on, and another who also ran a red light one or two blocks from that area.
  18. I would hope that Metro would get it's entire share back if the Mayor wants to drastically reduce or eliminate the fares. Does anyone have a breakdown on how Metro's 1% is broken down to?
  19. There is no red light camera at that intersection. I'm willing to bet the driver, depending on his/her record, will receive a ticket at the least and a firing at the worst.
  20. Fast work, Ed! Actually, the hospitals were probably overwhelmed and decided to split them up or they had a hospital of choice for their insurance. I prefer Methodist if I had a choice. preliminary reports say that the bus driver ran the light. The camera from the rail will show eventually.
  21. I watched the program, he DID say it, but said it in such a small blurb towards the end of the report and I almost missed it. Now if Metro would only get their collective head out of their behinds and actually ADVERTISE this.
  22. Ch. 13 is going to run a story on them. Only got a quick look at the teaser, but it looks like they're about to get lynched.
  23. How many 3rd World countries have you been in? Not to say it's not rough, but geez.
  24. Oh? Anything you can share without revealing sources?
