Kinder High School For The Performing And Visual Arts At 790 Austin St.
Montrose1100 replied to Subdude's topic in Downtown
I really like the letters in the building. I actually prefer this rendering over the precious one. -
Potential Supertall For The Galleria Area
Montrose1100 replied to Avossos's topic in Houston Real Estate
There were plans for a super tall before the recession. Deyaar? I'm not sure, I know it had Dubai connections. Maybe a revival? -
1711 Caroline: Multifamily At 1711 Caroline St.
Montrose1100 replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
Is that a balcony on the bottom floor corners? Yikes! Not because it is Downtown, but anywhere, if the bottom floor apartment has such a small fence it can detour potential residents from seeking them.- 194 replies

Yes please let's get rid of one of our rare insiders to development. Genius. As discussed a few pages ago, the apartments will not block anything but surface lots behind it towards Downtown. The Skyline is barely visible from the stadium, apart from the very top of the seats.

It's a start - but I think we will have more in common with Los Angeles overall. -

I would like to add Mancuso's Italian Table to the list. Such wonderful food & wine. I think they closed a month ago. Anyone know the history of this place?

Grew up in Spring and after going to school in Abilene moved into Houston proper. Don't ever want to move to the suburbs. -

Houston Potential Projects That Were Never Built
Montrose1100 replied to Subdude's topic in Houston Neverbuilt
That City Hall plan was GORGus. -
The Gay bars are over - that is for sure. All of them are slowly becoming the same exact bar. There is no point in bar hopping.

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
Montrose1100 replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
I agree. I'm completely shocked they opened up in the suburbs first. I thought they were supposed to have opened on at BLVD Place? Anyways, If they did open one up It wouldn't be much competition with XXI, as they are essentially the same store. -

yaaaaasss!!!! Finally, Downtown gets a flashy Hotel. Edit: I like how Macy's is still in the rendering. -
Houston Ship Channel Developments
Montrose1100 replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Points Southeast
They opened it up for traffic today, but restricted to daylight movement only. It will open up again at 0500. Collisions like this are rare. Fog is more of a seasonal issue. Trust me if the companies running the terminals/plants/refineries were worried about these small disruptions they would have built along the coast along time ago. Vessels are held up due to congestion more than anything. -
Or a night club. But I agree opening a dark underground space to the general public might attract undesirables. (It would be the drug dealers, not the homeless I'm worried about).I thought there were ideas floating around. I really like the paintball idea. You have to go to the far flung suburbs for that.

Yuppies for sure. The antique stores' prices now compete with crate & barrel.

The essence? Turn it into a haunted house? "Keep" it a spiritual place? I think we have enough churches in this town, it should utilized for out door activity, like paint balling. That's what parks are for. And the Budweiser amphitheater is goin up on the other side of the bayou.
-
Those last two ideas are the best i've heard.

It reminds me of a photo I've seen of the abandoned subways of Rochester. What could one do with it?
