  1. I hope the top portion of the tower is all glass and not a golden 80's shield. Based of the rendering they have totally redesigned the facade (not the shape). It looks more along the lines of something in the Energy Corridor now. A shame because I was really liking the first rendering. If you're going to bastardize a mid-century gem might as well make it look very modern.
  2. Yikes $800,000 for those! Are we in Toronto? I do applaud the developers for keeping and using the trees as a sales point.
  3. I wouldn't shed one tear if this building never gets built. I would much prefer a high rise residential on that location.
  4. It kind of looks like a spruced up suburban Hotel (The apartment portion). Changing the game for sure.
  5. The design element was used for Liberty 1 & 2, not just shortened by a few hundred feet. It's design was also recycled into the Messeturm in Frankfurt.
  6. I was wondering what those weird circular holes were on the lot next to it (visible on Google Earth). The EJ's lot is weird, as it kind of wraps around to the back of the Buffalo Exchange. I know this first hand as my vehicle was towed for being one spot over on their lot while shopping.
  7. I might be alone in this thought but I'm really glad Houston doesn't have one of these novelty towers. Other than Seattle, Dallas, San Antonio, and Berlin I can't think of one city skyline that I like with an dominant observation/radio tower.
  8. I heard a rumor the bar is closing in 2 months to make way for a hotel. Any insiders know anything?
  9. I can't remember if it went in right after 9/11, or when Galleria IV opened up in 2004ish. It doesn't bother me so much, it helps fill the void.
  10. Great angle. That building is starting to show it's age with all the discoloration of the high ceiling. I hope that if, and when they renovate they keep the balconies.
  11. I agree with kbates2, Dolce Vita has a pizza margherita that was absolutely worth the price. The New York Pizzeria (now Russo's?), in Post Midtown use to have really great huge slices. The last couple times haven't been so great.
  12. I think you're thinking of the photo of them called "the twin towers" in which they are on the roof of City Hall with the Louisiana Street skyline behind them (1100 Louisiana, Wells Fargo, 1 Shell Plaza). I've seen it on Pinterest and Tumblr. I'll try and search for it later. Edit; There is this onehttp://www.thesportsbank.net/college-bball/can-gophers-ralph-sampson-iii-follow-dad-to-the-nba/ But the one I was thinking of was this one http://spacecityscoop.com/2013/08/12/houston-rockets-dwight-howard-and-omer-asik-twin-towers-2-0/ On both links you have to scroll down as they are both the second picture on the page.
  13. Do you think those trees in the top right pictures next to the sidewalk will be history once they widen the boulevard? What will become of the arches/street lights & signs? Sorry - Off topic I know, but based on how this building is set back to perhaps plan for the impeding widening, it looks like a lot of things will have to be remade to fit the wider street.
  14. That's one of three proposals for the site in question. I would kill to sneak a glance at the HOK renderings.
  15. I actually like Dallas' City Hall. I have a soft spot for brutalist buildings.
  16. Why would they not call it Total Plaza? The petroleum club had no problem calling 800 Bell te Exxon Building.
  17. Did Total leave this building? Sorry for the off-topic question.
  18. Damn I forgot about that one already. It's a toss up for 800 Bell St.
  19. Can this include towers currently under threat of abandonment/demolition/exterior renovation? 1. 800 Bell Street - Keeping the current facade and only sprucing up the interior. Preferably residential 2. That old Hospital off of Allen Parkway that was torn down quite some time ago. 3. The Great Southwest Building.
  20. Crossing over Yale on I-10 (heading east), at 7:20 in the morning is amazing. The sun beams slightly off of the Wells Fargo Tower, it looks so shiny and smooth. The color of the glass is most impressive with that lighting.
