  1. Most of the back half of the building has now been demolished. Excavators are doing a number on the parking lot.
  2. There's a big shortage of single family inventory. Master planned development can be phased in over many years. There is a lot of highrise MF to be absorbed.
  3. What is the building on EaDo across 59 next to St. Emanuel I wonder? Edit: Just saw Subdude's post, which asked the same question.
  4. There is a similar forum for the Downtown neighborhoods, but, given that this will break ground today, it seemed appropriate to create a thread in the "Going Up" category. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/11/12/nau-center-for-texas-cultural-heritage-to-break.html
  5. The Nau Center for Cultural Heritage will apparently break ground today. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2014/11/12/nau-center-for-texas-cultural-heritage-to-break.html Edit: I have created a version of this thread with the attached article in the "Going Up!" category.
  6. Demolition of Micro Center is in full swing. Excavators are tearing into the building like langoliers.
  7. Well, shucks. I suppose I am part of the Fresh Market's problem. I like their cold sandwiches and cheap, quality coffee. However, I do not do my primary grocery shopping there. Still, the store has the most pleasant aroma when I walk in. I will enjoy it while it lasts.
  8. Here's hoping it opens in time to help save The Fresh Market. I enjoy the $1 coffee there.
  9. Great to see another residential development along Main if this materializes. Main could have nice islands of restaurant and retail near the light rail stations.
  10. One can see the demo equipment in the parking lot. Demo is starting just a few days late.
  11. I was last at the leasing office a couple months ago. Wouldn't be shocked if they only permit 6 month leases.
  12. Surge is back, Howard! http://www.coca-colacompany.com/stories/surge-returns-back-by-popular-demand-brand-now-available-exclusively-on-amazoncom
  13. This is starting to feel a little bit like a game of "he loves me, he loves me not." Varying posts suggest this will or will not happen in Q3 2015. Hopefully, Chevron will provide some official clarification in the not-too-distant future.
  14. I like it! The area around the ballpark will be quite nice in a few years. At some point, Downtown will require a proper grocery store to support the residential units (Phoenicia is cool, but doesn't get the job done with respect to more traditional items).
  15. Sad. Oh well, maybe we'll get lucky and have new leadership at Chevron decide to move corporate HQ from San Ramon to Houston and scale this up a bit. Any chance Chevron will lease space at 800 Bell?
  16. The Roche Bobois store is just around the corner from my office. The Astoria sales office has been there lately. It has 'European looking' furniture. Not my cup of tea. I didn't realize they were a big deal.
  17. Hasn't 3Q 2015 been on the Downtown Development Map for awhile now? The same map indicates that One Market Square is slated to begin construction this quarter. I think Chevron is a bit more likely than One Market Square, but would prefer a presser from Chevron on this project before I get too excited. I, for one, am not too upset with the design of this building. It looks like the ring on top will light up.
  18. DEL should be within the 787-8's range. BOM is about 600 miles further. The 787-9 might be able to do BOM, but even it may have a weight penalty. The Indian routes may have to wait until the 777X is available, by which time demand may be more robust.
  19. I don't think there is enough business demand to Vietnam. It's mostly VFR traffic. IAH-DEL is intriguing down the line. It's a shorter flight to Delhi than Mumbai and Air India is now apart of Star Alliance. Korean is cutting back Seoul-DFW now that AA has started flying the route. If they want a presence in Texas, IAH might be their best bet. Any chance Tel Aviv might work?
  20. Going back to eateries, I am hopeful residential development Spurs Treebeards at Market Square to be open on weekends.
  21. I quite liked the idea of having something along the lines of the 7200 Main renderings at this site. The Hines proposal could be modified for a taller tower for such a plan.
