  1. Nice. I suppose the Astoria laydown site can be readily changed to a laydown site for the hotel.
  2. It's near Minute Maid Park, which as a weird combo space/train theme. Cheesy is perfect for that area.
  3. Residential with a ground floor grocery store would be nice. Call the store HEB Main Street Market.
  4. The developer has kept the name as "The Place" on the website. Coming soon, "The Place Apartments" formerly known as "That Other Place."
  5. This is the same shot I posted in the Belfiore topic. Five Oaks Place is prominent in the center.
  6. I got this shot while walking down San Felipe for a coffee today. The Belfiore can be seen between the Oaks Place towers.
  7. If it gets built, the tower fka One Market Square fka International Tower could just be called One Shark Place in honor of the fin at the top.
  8. The Downtown development map lists this as starting in fourth quarter 2014. I have been skeptical that this would be built but wonder, in the event this is moving forward, if it will be scaled up a bit similar to 609 Main.
  9. An excavator was on this site today. I saw it on the drive into Uptown. I will try to get pictures of the site soon.
  10. Photo of this site from a high floor of the Chase Tower.
  11. Photograph of this site from a high floor of the Chase Tower.
  12. EaDo has plenty of townhomes, but much less in terms on multifamily. A few higher density developments on St. Emanuel would be nice. I agree that additional retail is needed.
  13. I recall there was anger over the City of Houston putting a bid on the site. I thought it was destined for mixed-use development. That being said, it would be a nice site for a terminus for TCR's bullet train to Dallas. Then, build a tower over the terminus a la TransBay Tower in San Francisco.
  14. I'd prefer to see a tax incentive to spur more development in EaDo. Midtown is doing just fine.
  15. I am curious as to what will go up on the post-office site once that is sold. That would be a nice place for a 50+ story building north and slightly west of this site.
  16. I agree. Plenty of medical professionals to target in the TMC who can reside in a SkyHouse.
  17. I recall discussion of a $2 billion foreign-financed real estate development a couple months ago. We may yet see a crescendo in this wonderful display of development we have going.
  18. I lived in the East Campus dorm at Columbia (over Morningside Park) back in the day. I remember needing the noise of the city to help me sleep after awhile.
  19. Traffic is indeed abysmal around here. I get in the office later in the morning and leave later in the evening to miss the worst of it. I refuse to leave the office during peak lunch hour to seek out places to eat in the area (huzzah brownbagging). The bulldozer from yesterday is not on site now (or at least not within view from my office). I will walk by in a little while to get a better look.
  20. From what I have heard, that is correct. Amegy is keeping their operations center Downtown. The new tower will be used to accommodate those employees from the current building with additional room for growth and will feature a good-sized auditorium for training events for employees for the various branches around the city.
  21. SkyHouse Main. That has a good ring to it. Glad to see the developer's continued belief in the Houston market.
