  1. Photograph of this site from a high floor of the Chase Tower.
  2. EaDo has plenty of townhomes, but much less in terms on multifamily. A few higher density developments on St. Emanuel would be nice. I agree that additional retail is needed.
  3. I recall there was anger over the City of Houston putting a bid on the site. I thought it was destined for mixed-use development. That being said, it would be a nice site for a terminus for TCR's bullet train to Dallas. Then, build a tower over the terminus a la TransBay Tower in San Francisco.
  4. I'd prefer to see a tax incentive to spur more development in EaDo. Midtown is doing just fine.
  5. I am curious as to what will go up on the post-office site once that is sold. That would be a nice place for a 50+ story building north and slightly west of this site.
  6. I agree. Plenty of medical professionals to target in the TMC who can reside in a SkyHouse.
  7. I recall discussion of a $2 billion foreign-financed real estate development a couple months ago. We may yet see a crescendo in this wonderful display of development we have going.
  8. I lived in the East Campus dorm at Columbia (over Morningside Park) back in the day. I remember needing the noise of the city to help me sleep after awhile.
  9. Traffic is indeed abysmal around here. I get in the office later in the morning and leave later in the evening to miss the worst of it. I refuse to leave the office during peak lunch hour to seek out places to eat in the area (huzzah brownbagging). The bulldozer from yesterday is not on site now (or at least not within view from my office). I will walk by in a little while to get a better look.
  10. From what I have heard, that is correct. Amegy is keeping their operations center Downtown. The new tower will be used to accommodate those employees from the current building with additional room for growth and will feature a good-sized auditorium for training events for employees for the various branches around the city.
  11. SkyHouse Main. That has a good ring to it. Glad to see the developer's continued belief in the Houston market.
  12. A bulldozer has just been delivered to the Landry's site. Other 18-wheelers now appear to be delivering supplies to the site (outside of the fenced area for the Astroia laydown site). I am curious as to what may be moving forward.
  13. Right behind the Astoria. I am already glad I do not commute to this area at rush hour as it is a nightmare to navigate. I agree that the Uptown and University lines make all the more sense to help move folks to the other business centers (it would be nice to take the rail to court instead of having to drive).
  14. Archer: Lana. LANA. LANAAAA!!!!! Lana: WHAT!?! Archer (smirking): Danger zone.
  15. So, Inverness and Windhall will both be demolished in the not-too-distant future. The Post Oak corridor will look quite different in the next few years.
  16. I saw this go up. The reduction of a Hollyhurst building line may support the hotel thesis on the back of the property. Anyone else heard updates on this property (south of Landry's HQ)?
  17. Tangentially related, is the any chance the Montrose Management District will pay to bury utilities? The nature of the neighborhood is shifting toward mid-and highrises. The overground utilities look unfortunate.
  18. Thanks for putting the rendering together Metro West and for the comparison Larry Dierker. The Chevron Tower adds a good anchoring presence on the southwest part of the skyline. The hotels and residential highrises on the east side nicely broaden the skyline in that direction as well. I much prefer Metro West's modification to Chevron's tower. It would be nice if Chevron would add a crown to their tower for heightened impact on the skyline.
  19. I see Hines' tower and the other Market Square tower as complementing other. More folks living around Market Square will permit the lunch places to potentially open up for later hours (looking at you, Treebeards) and increase the desirability of the area.
  20. Mollusk, normally defendants have an incentive to delay the outcomes of cases as much as possible. The "ready docket" and "expedited ready docket" statuses are two separate statuses on the district clerk's site. I seldom see "expedited ready docket" and the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure do provide for an expedited docket in certain cases (I have yet to have a case using the expedited procedure, so the status is somewhat unusual for me to see). Hines could certainly fight and seek a trial date as late as possible, and judges can be amenable to allowing some extensions for time for discovery. I should clarify that my above point was meant to indicate that I have not seen filings indicating Hines is seeking to draw out discovery as long as possible. A hearing on a temporary injunction can be held far before trial and the party seeking such injunction must show a likelihood of success on the merits. Trial for a permanent injunction could then proceed at the normal pace if a temporary injunction were granted. I have yet to see a hearing date for a temporary injunction in the first of the two cases, and Hines has been very good about getting the structure put up--changing the "status quo" that a TI is meant to preserve.
  21. Well, the 1998esque website indicates the rooftop amenities will be 500' above street level. Wonder if this stands a chance at overtaking 2929 Weslayan for tallest residential in the city.
  22. No trial date has been set on either of the cases affecting this property yet. I will keep monitoring to see what additional filings become available. I am curious as to whether Hines would prefer to have this case decided prior to a decision on the "Ashby" appeal currently in the Fourteenth Court of Appeals. The first of the two cases has been assigned to the expedited ready docket, so it would appear that is currently Hines' plan.
