I wonder what will happen to the strip center across the street from this. That seems ripe for some new openings or redevelopment.- 60 replies

What about the big grassy plot south of Burnett St. By the railroad tracks just north of I-10? That would be quite central. -
How the heck is Westjet not serving Houston yet? I realize this may not be the best time to start Calgary, but in terms of its PDEW, it is second only to London for O/D traffic for international travel from Houston. Korean's decision to fly here (aside: don't get me wrong, I love seeing an additional tail fin at IAH), is baffling, but Westjet's absence has been equally baffling.

50 stories would cross a cool psychological barrier for residential development. As has been previously discussed, once some of the other 40-story developments are developed, going 50 stories will suggest a new kind of ultra-luxury development. I wonder if Tema will try for EB-5 money to help fund this.

The guys saying "Chicago" appear to be travel agents who primarily book for leisure travelers. I think IAH would remain a distinct possibility. Although ORD should be within the 787-9's capabilities, I think the westbound flight with a full passenger load might be pushing it (the flight clocks in at around 8184 statute miles when routing at ETOPS 330 minutes at the great circle mapper). Of course, there are many good reasons for Air NZ to head to Chicago, but I think the European connections can also be had via a one stop routing through Asia. The near Latin American connections (e.g. Mexico and Central America) might be more valuable to Air NZ.

And here we go. Kirby will be quite the road in a few years. We'll have to see whether Hanover can get financing for its proposed highrise as well. Even without that, I am quite excited about this development.
-
It looks like the ANA flight is better timed for onward connections into Asia than the UA flight was. Not great for Latam on the IAH end, though. And the Air NZ announcement is not out just yet. Let's wait and see. Hope springs eternal.

ANA...holy cow! I did not see that coming. I think TPE was also officially announced. Also, I think Air New Zealand has scheduled a news conference for Friday morning New Zealand time (later this afternoon our time) to announce a new route. It is expected to be ORD or IAH. Fingers crossed Air NZ realizes the business traffic a one-stop to PER from IAH might be able to gobble up (and PER is already served with the 787-9). :-)

George R. Brown Convention Center Hotel: East Of Highway 59

How long do franked wells produce? I thought it was for just a few years and then producers had to move on. As existing supplies dry up, one would expect additional growth as oil prices rise again due to shorter supply and (hopefully) continued robust demand. -
It is a pretty building, and well worth a wait. I am glad to see it is not necessarily "dead" but in deep carbon-freeze hibernation.

Makes me admire Hines decision to move forward with 609 Main. Of all the proposed towers, the most significant proposal is being built. We'll have to see what energy prices do. It looks like the Saudis want to curtail new exploration. Happily, lower energy prices can spur global economic growth which increases demand for energy....and the cycle will come full circle.

So, in the Christmas-season spirit, it's dead. But, it might not be "dead as a doornail."

Third Ward Real Estate
houstontexasjack replied to YakuzaIce's topic in Third Ward and University of Houston
The view from the beehive is quite nice. This area is really changing quickly. I was surprised my girlfriend liked this area more than many others inside the loop (save for the much less affordable 77006 of Montrose). After going over the finances, I hope to move into a home in this area in lieu of the Richmont apartments.
