Shiny! The glass up top provides an opportunity for some color facing the freeway to add to the skyline. Also, mods, I think there may be another forum on this topic if we would like to consolidate.

Those renderings are very sexy. This project looks like an absolute delight and, as the Chronicle article suggests, will help the MFAH act as a nice bridge between the Museum District and Rice.

If both this and SkyHouse Main move forward, there will be quite a cluster of apartments in this part of Downtown.

I am delighted to hear this is moving forward. It is a lovely looking project. I am of the mind that density breeds density as neighborhoods become more walkable and more attractive to those who desire a more urban setting. Although it may take a few more years to come to fruition, I think the construction of this would ultimately bode well for the Hanover River Oaks tower.

Josh Smith has looked quite good coming off of the bench. Corey Brewer seems to be a good addition as well. I am not sure where T. Jones will find a spot in the rotation once he gets healthy again. I suspect the Rockets will be active at the trade deadline once more. The Suns may be interested in moving Dragic (assuming they are out of playoff contention) and the Nuggets may similarly want to move on from Ty Lawson. Dragic's silky touch would be lovely back on the Rockets. Lawson would also fit the Rockets M.O. (he can create a lot of three point shots), although I am not sure his style would gel as well with Harden.

Dirt has been moved around on this site the past few days. An excavator is piling it into a dump truck. It is out of view in the photo below, but a portapotty has been set up on site.

http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/01/with-falling-oil-prices-museum-district-project.html The project may be delayed (not too surprising), but the article indicates it is to be a "midrise multifamily and retail project atop a podium garage." I am glad to see some retail is part of the plan.

Interesting. I think this will replace that run-down strip center across from the Hampstead on Blodgett. As someone with a direct interest in this neighborhood, here's hoping....wait for it....this place has Ground Floor Retail. :-)

I got this shot on a walk over a pedestrian bridge while exploring the area north of the courthouses. I believe the cranes for this project and HSPVA (a bit hard to see but in front of the Hess Tower) are in view.- 2,096 replies

I just drove that Allen Parkway ramp for the first time and it was borderline terrifying spiraling into the Freeway in my Jeep. No objection closing that ramp. I like the proposal to reroute 45 along 59 and 10 and turn the Pierce into a Parkway. I'd really love a rail line that goes along such Parkway into Allen Parkway and then into Kirby...although that would take a shift in attitudes in this town.

Highway 290/West Loop/Katy Freeway Interchange
houstontexasjack replied to editor's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Can we move to redesignate 290 as an Interstate now that it links up to two parents on either end? Some work would need to be done between Houston and Austin to bring the road to Interstate standard, but it would be useful to rebrand the highway as an Interstate.- 96 replies

Aris Market Square: Multifamily High-Rise At 409 Travis St.
houstontexasjack replied to Mab's topic in Downtown
If memory serves, that comports with the proposed demolition of the Richmont Square apartments and the plan for the Menil Expansion. I think lockmat posted the plan awhile back in that thread, but the images are not readily available. Glad to hear Hines will be the one behind the redevelopment of the Menil area.- 1,528 replies
