  1. I'm sorry but I just don't think those things will get built. Monarch is crying that Dallas builds this and that, has he seen what is actually going on in Houston? We have projects that are actually going up. Some really good projects. What is going up in downtown Dallas to be jealous of?
  2. I agree. At 16 floors it's a significant structure
  3. I agree with Texasota and mollusk 100%. They are ruining a unique looking classic to create something that's bland and ugly from the get go. Just like the Texas Tower I guess this will make it easier to demolish. I Can hear it now, they will say the building is no longer historic, it has lost its character, let's just demolish it and build something else. The Texas Tower was so attractive, and they just crippled it to the point where no one would care if it goes.
  4. Again, you are twisting what was said to come up with a doomsday scenario.1. No one said anything about zoning anywhere for parking. In fact, it was said a zillion times that the optimum scenario would be a spread around the periphery. 2. I can name a zillion parking structures with ground floor retail. Just because it is a garage doesn't mean it can't look like any other building on the outside with retail on the bottom.
  5. Im not saying that it won't be nice to have more signage downtown, that I would welcome, but the actual glow of the buildings themselves is comforting to me, especially coming back into town after a long trip. But like I said, at ground level, we need more signage. More lighted signs in varing colors. I like the lighting scheme for this hotel, the one at green street and 609 main
  6. That model on display at the ceremony looked to be lined in trees on the south and west side. Maybe the trees will come back?
  7. Does it say what type of building is going up there? Highland Oaks will quickly become the place to be, I Tell you what.
  8. Number one for me is Exxon/Humble Oil. Everyone seems to hate it but I think it is classically elegant and shouldn't be funked with.
  9. I was just going to say the same thing. Modern hirise parking structures use lifts. It saves space and time. Cities around the world are building all these parking megastructures. I heard Dubai is gonna build a 40,000 spot garage. I think that would be the largest capacity single garage in the world, but of course its Dubai so it has tp be the biggest. And two think, ten years ago they were parking camels
  10. 1. Legalize gambling and build about 8 themed casinos on there. 2. Sell it to South Texas College of Law so when they consolidate with UHD they will be right there. 3. Build a giant Hellipad for extraterrestrial landings. 4. Sell it to the Landrys guy, he will know what to do with it. His ideas are cheesier than mine. 5. Build a proper museum for NASA there so that we can be awarded proper shuttles.
  11. It looks like 6 floors throughout and certain areas having an extra something. It might be too hide ACs, maintenance equipment, etc. But clearly these extra parts have no balconies, while the 3rd to 6 floors do. Maybe it's a double floor with a loft or something.
  12. I don't think anyone mentioned a wall of garages. If you are going to completely change the gist of the conversation to suit your point then it becomes pointless cause you are objecting against something you made up to make it sound unpalatable. This 16 story garage is slated to have 1600 spots. So lets assume this is 100 slots per floor on a half lot building. This one building would eliminate the need for the ugly Skyhouse garage, the Marquette residential garage, the Hines MS garage and the garage for the 40 storey MS residential on the other side. Now that is one building on a half lot. Reduce the height to 12 floors and use a full lot and you get 2400. Put three of them in strategic areas near Pierce (either side), a few on the east side and a couple downtown itself and you Easily rack up 20,000 parking spaces. That's A fifth of all the parking currently downtown just in about 8 buildings spread about on the outskirts of downtown. Even if you double the number of spots available downtown we don't need walls of Garages to accomplish this.
  13. I agree. I would prefer more of these type pf structures spread around the periphery instead of having massively hideous parking garages attached to each new building downtown.
  14. That efficiency unit looks nice. I would live there if I had the money
  15. “It’s going to be one of the most amenity-rich and technically advanced projects in the country,” said Mooz. Wow, no wonder these buildings take forever to be completed. I thought this building would grow on me by now, but I hate the latest rendering even more than previous ones. I still hate it's companion two block south too.
  16. I wish international tower was going up along with the two MS residential towers. Just wishful thinking and wanting everything to be completed at the same time.
  17. I think this is the best use of the land. This area needs to be built up and interact with the natural pluses of the area. The city court complexes wouldn't do much for the area.
  18. From the image it looks like two islands are made. There are two bends. One around the jail that resulted from the bayou looping south. The second one loops north, right after the jail. Looks like the south connection runs from Labranch, past 59 to Jensen. Not sure though. Can't really tell from the small pic. Edit: the south canal looks much smaller than the north canal. It looks like the south canal will be more for boosting development than flood control than the north canal. That area north of Minute Maid does need some help
  19. Better in what they look very similar. The Aqua is much taller although 2929 Wesleyan's location make it seem to standout more. Overall I would give the edge to Aqua. I like how the white fins stand out.
