  1. The two wings doesn't look big enough to be separate blocks, and the entrance in the middle has a ramp so that would mean the middle street would be closed off. I dunno, I hope the rendering drastically changes.
  2. Yep. We are a city if people who just settle for anything. According to Moore we shouldn't B#&$H
  3. Yeah, I read that thread after. Mixed emotions. Feel let down but still happy that the area is transforming and hopefully will be more lively
  4. We are all happy for more residential options, but still, why should we settle for crappy designs right smack in downtown?
  5. I dunno. The scheme slightly resembles the M&M building and that is a handsome building. I think they just did a faded rendering so that it won't look line something too new looking going up around Market square. They may create a very attractive art deco-like building like M&M
  6. Why should we? This is our city. We live it and want the best for it.
  7. Eh, very disappointing. Thought these was supposed to be twice as tall as the alliance one on Main. Why Camden???? WHY????!!!!!!!!
  8. That's one hulk of a building. Welcomed change to the area. The two 12 storey residential units should be about 2 blocks away. This area is going to be transformed.
  9. Totally agree, but then again I am all for weird. I would do renovations to
  10. I would be happy with just 20 storey buildings filling up the gaps. The fact that we are getting 30 and 40 storey buildings is just gravy. I wouldn't care if we didn't get another 60+ for years if we keep on getting so many infill projects. I like supertalls but priority for me is: 1. Infill 2. Increased residential population 3. Increased entertainment options 4. Increased transit options 5. Increased dining options 6. Grocery options to suit the growth 7. Other retailers 8. Improved public spaces 9. A supertall or two 10. Better lighting. I think that would bee my list in order
  11. That is what I said. What is up with you today? A lot that happens to have surface parking included isn't the same thing as a surface parking lot. Just as a grocery that happens to sell milk Isnt a dairy. I said I didn't see any SURFACE PARKING LOTS, what do you presume I meant my lot?
  12. Jims pic shows how its the collective that makes the settings beautiful. Not one nice building in that shot but together it looks really nice. Houstonians remind me of that SouthPark episode what Uncle Jimbo took the kids hunting. You know there one where he told the kids if you shout "omg its attacking" you can shoot any endangered species. That's how Houstonians do with buildings. Y'all just shout eyesore this abd eyesore that then claim it needs to come down. Skyhouse is a modern building but it fits in really well. Why is making downtown look better always start with demo. To me the surface scars are by far the ugliest aspects of downtown.
  13. I was shocked when I saw that Hines residential tower didn't include plans to level this tower.
  14. This is Houston. We change out buildings as quickly as the weather changes. MCDONALD'S will be gone soon
  15. They should have planted densely along Main in mainstreet square. Lots of big thick trees with hanging moss. Then the water feature should have been landscaped with sLopping grass covered mounds. Make it look like the train is navigating a bayou. It is the Bayou City after all. The fountains were a good idea, but it never seems to be working.
  16. If it us under utilized how would you clasify the parking lot directly east or that huge grass tripple lot to the south? Or the empty lots to the Southwest? Or those lots west around the plaza? Or that empty lot to the north. This thing is surrounded by nothingness on all points of the compass. Its not like we are pressed for space in that location. On a side note, does metro own that lot the wheeler station is located on? The tracks kinda bisects the lot
  17. If it wasn't there there wouldn't be a department store for miles. Why are we concerned about a lot with a building on it when that building is surrounded by empty lots. No wonder We develop so sparsely. We have 100 lots, ten with buildings on there, instead of trying something on the other 90 we just keep rebuilding on the occupied 10. Why not build a Target next door first and when they put Sears In financial trouble then ask why Sears is still there. You should be thankful Sears is there. After Macy's closed they are the only ones accessible to a lot of people using public transit
  18. I was going to be a Debbie downer but thanks for doing it for me. I hold hope that it will look as nice as the rendering. I don't tHink the plans have much room to introduce tack, but I dunno. Im holding on to hope
