Camden McGowen Station & Midtown Park At 2727 Travis St.
HoustonIsHome replied to Subdude's topic in Midtown
I agree, he is sleeping on the one downtown too. I know there are delays and stuff but some projects seem to get going without much hoopla, while others drag on for ten years. To make it worse after the ten years the results are still disappointing. I rather the skyhouse model. They are like hey, this is my average looking hi rise. I will break ground a month from announcing this, it will top off five months after that, and be ready to move in within a year. -

I agree with HH such prime property should have been racing skyward in this construction boom. -
Aris Market Square: Multifamily High-Rise At 409 Travis St.
HoustonIsHome replied to Mab's topic in Downtown
One market square residential and one market square commercial. To throw more confusing into the mix the 40 storey residential one on Milam should be called "One Market Square Too"- 1,528 replies

With five residentials directly on Pease (two skyhouses, a Houston House, Camden and Leon) plus two residentials just a block away (Allied and Alliance) Pease may become quite the next "it" corridor. The two blocks north of Pease on either side of Caroline might be prime property in a few years. They are both mainly surface lots with a uhaul occupying a quarter of the lot west of Caroline and a Bail Bonds occupying 1/4 of the one on the east. I can see the uhaul sticking firm, but the bailbonds might be unwelcome company for residents in seven overpriced residential buildings and the co cathedral. either of those two lots would be great for a building/ buildings that would finally incorporate that elusive major grocery store. Just realized how uninspiring Pease is. Nothing really special from 59 all the way to Louisiana. Lots of opportunity there

The more unsightly aspect of skyhouse is the garage. So big and plain looking. It takes up a bit more of the lot than the actual tower.

One Market Square: Proposed Office Tower At 800 Preston St.
HoustonIsHome replied to lockmat's topic in Downtown
That was the very block I have been wondering why its still empty. I have proposed a supertall there in the past and alternatively I mentioned including the blocks to the south of it to be a great place to build a bigger, better aquarium. Now I have been thinking that a supertall might be better suited north of there to be amongst all the new development north of Dallas. Then again maybe a supertall on that site would spur development further to the south. The Camden development is only a few blocks south.- 989 replies

Shid then lets just start a new one. Then again, lets not. Maybe a new group of tunnel-less buildings would create a more vibrant downtown- 989 replies

The Star (Former Texaco Building) At 1111 Rusk St.
HoustonIsHome replied to editor's topic in Downtown
the 16 storey garage has a crane too -
I wish Esperson was right on the waterfront. Probably where spaghetti warehouse is. I'm gonna start a petition to move spaghetti warehouse to east downtown, move esperson to where spaghetti warehouse is and then build a supertall on the site of the Espersons.

One Market Square: Proposed Office Tower At 800 Preston St.
HoustonIsHome replied to lockmat's topic in Downtown
If a supertall is going to mixed use then 5 allen would be a crappy spot for it. I would prefer it east of main and north of Dallas. Preferably a few blocks away from discovery green- 989 replies

Nothing fascinating about either building. At least we are getting 608 main. International tower would be icing. Especially if it's a taller version

I made that sane remark months ago. In fact it was double. Skyhouse isn't very attractive in my opinion, but I said I would take 20 of them downtown if they were eating up empty lots

Aris Market Square: Multifamily High-Rise At 409 Travis St.
HoustonIsHome replied to Mab's topic in Downtown
Well I kind of stretched the amenities based on location, but these buildings are only a block apart so my better amenities comment didn't hold up either way. They are not a mile apart so Hines being right at the train station or the bars and stuff on main isn't really that much of a plus in the amenities department. I didn't really mean amenities in the building itself as I can't recall what hines is supposed to offer.- 1,528 replies

Hines tower is 8 storeys shorter maybe it will be completed quicker and be preleased quicker since it has better amenities, better looking neighbors and right on main.- 1,528 replies

Energy Corridor Skyline Update
HoustonIsHome replied to Dariusb's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
Saying the EC will rival TMC and Uptown is like saying the buildings in Houston will rival downtown chicago. Yes, Houston has a lot of tall buildings that I'd you add them up they may amount to something approximately close to Chicago, but why compare 60 miles of skyline to 6 and then say they are both apples. Downtown is downtown, it has no match. TMC is TMC, it had no match. Uptown, EC, Westchase, Greenspoint, and the rest are a dime a dozen. These can spring up in ten years anywhere abd look and feel the same. TMC and DT has unrivalled character that no where she in Texas confess close to.- 27 replies

Energy Corridor Skyline Update
HoustonIsHome replied to Dariusb's topic in Other Houston Neighborhoods
TMC is unique, doubt anywhere in Texas will match this density in Texas. They build very close together with minimal open space. The EC builds more like Uptown but more stretched out. The EC has a long way to catch up with Uptown and will not match the pattern of TMC- 27 replies
