I spoke to the gentleman who was working at the gas station on the proposed site of Alexan Main Street and he vehemently denied that there would be an apartment built there. He said that they had refused all offers to purchase the property. If Alexan has purchased all of the other lots, maybe there will be a retail component after all...

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but there is newly installed red-ish colored brick on the side facing the garage. It looks like they are going to install it on the sidewalk level of the front side as well.

There's a note taped to the wall facing Hadley warning cars not to park there because concrete is being poured in the morning.

White Oak Music Hall by marclongoria, on Flickr Let's not clean up the neighborhood too soon... That couch will offer an amazing front-row view of construction.

Thanks for the update. I'm still interested as to what they'll be doing with the clock on top.

The Langley: Residential High-Rise At 1717 Bissonnet St.

I think the ultimate revenge would be to open a pawn/liquor/check cashing store on the site. I bet the neighborhood wouldn't be so NIMBY after that.- 1,445 replies

To elaborate on this post, they're installing windows on the front portion closest to Enterprise (where the "Central" letters used to be). As of this evening two rows are nearly complete. I would have posted a picture, but then there wouldn't be any incentive for you all to come visit beautiful Midtown.

Camden McGowen Station & Midtown Park At 2727 Travis St.

Nice! I'm glad someone else attended to provide additional information. I didn't have a pen, so I was relying on my sketchy memory to update the thread. -
That was actually a more embarrassing part of the meeting. Apparently they bid the project, didn't like the price so they sent it out for rebid... which ended up EVEN HIGHER than the original.

Camden McGowen Station & Midtown Park At 2727 Travis St.

The MRA rep said they WILL start in early March, but Camden is in charge of building the garage... which is why I took the pessimistic view of SHOULD start in the next couple months. Apparently they were just waiting on permits. -
Good news everyone! Per an update at While walking home from the Midtown Redevelopment Authority meeting tonight, I noticed the gate open at this site and let myself in. My previous post about the pool was invalid, but they did excavate the center of the parking lot and partially refilled the hole. There is various machinery inside the structure as well as lumber and drywall. It seems as though this is definitely underway.

Mixed news everyone! Per an update at the Midtown Redevelopment Authority meeting tonight, bids for this project came in over budget and the MRA board is in talks with several government groups to allocate the deficit (approximately $4M). If funding is found, construction will start toward the end of 2015... if not, the project will be scaled back or shelved indefinitely. Overall, my feelings are:

Good news everyone! Per an update at the Midtown Redevelopment Authority meeting tonight, the parking garage should start construction in the next two months... which will be followed by Camden and park construction. The goal is to have everything ready to host a Super Bowl event at the park. -

We can rebuild it. We have the technology! Pretty legit, but probably super expensive.

It looks like they've started excavating for the pool... not sure why they want to do that first?

What's the point of having a tag line if you're just going to stand under the load? This guy needs a time-out for safety.

Midtown Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming
phillip_white replied to WestGrayGuy's topic in Midtown
Anybody know what's planned at the former BMW detailing shop at Gray and Caroline? They built the new location down the street, but I'm not sure if it's because the owner forced them out to develop. They've been clearing the lot for the past week. -

Looks like GFR might be going into the bottom of a parking garage at Gray and Louisiana: Sorry, I had to make the picture small for it to upload.
