  1. I'm looking at getting place in the area and it's great that there's so much development going in. I don't mean to sidetrack the thread, but could one of you give some insight as to what's cool to check out (bars, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.) that's already existing?
  2. Their website has the opening listed as January 8th.
  3. To me it seems like they are referring to the northern corner of the central bank block. They had previously planned to build a plaza there, but I guess the MRA has decided to provide funding for it. http://x.lnimg.com/photo/poster_1920/cead7d2cf18a4990b51c61f977e907c2.jpg edit: added link to rendering
  4. Apparently our Days Inn has a twin in Beirut that survived a war... and looks basically the same. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/12/scars-war-lebanon-holiday-inn-151219082356997.html
  5. Definitely check out Axelrad, as it is AMAZING (and co-owned by several HAIFers)! It's also within walking distance of the Mid-Main rail stop.
  6. We've got to be getting close to some sort of closure on the future of this one. What was the enigmatic insider information posed a while back... 12 story parking garage and tower instead of 8 story garage and 2 floor tower?? It looks to me like they're almost to 8 on the garage.
  7. More details: http://swamplot.com/midtown-addiction-services-nonprofit-enters-transitional-housing-between-demo-of-old-space-and-construction-of-new/2015-12-16/
  8. Here's a CultureMap article from September with more info on the progress: http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/09-18-15-landlord-seeks-ambitious-restaurateur-to-give-life-to-historic-midtown-home-1/
  9. I was bummed walking around the site last night thinking how amazing the park's downtown view would be if it wasn't for that pesky apartment complex being built in the way.
  10. Taken tonight. Looks like some of you devout Camdenites may have been right about this project going vertical ASAP. I'm not drinking the kool-aid yet, but I'm starting to believe in miracles. Btw, sorry for the poor quality. I missed twilight by about 30 minutes. edit: double pics posted.
  11. I hope those people in the Citizen's building have said goodbye to sunlight and hello to a view of a brick wall.
  12. Look at all of the homeless people in this historic postcard. I guess things truly never change.
  13. Yesterday from 45. Looks like most of the windows are installed on the west and north sides.
  14. Similar infrastructure work was done on the lot across from 2016 Main, leading to anticipation and speculation... but then they covered up the hole and haven't don't anything since. Hopefully this will be different.
  15. Could be a tax abatement that MRA used to get them to start on the project.
  16. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that these are good to go unless you have a source that says otherwise. The only thing that I can see that they're pouring at the moment is the garage. For all we know, they could just cover it all with dirt and wait two years to proceed..
  17. I agree, now that I see the interior renderings I'm reminded of my time in Tokyo. The units are small, but every square inch of space is designed with a purpose. And a bed is one of the most useless spaces in a home when you're not in it. My only hope is that the doorways are higher than the Japanese standard, as that was a constant pain in the forehead.
  18. They're remodeling the space next to ACE Cash Express at Fannin and Gray. I know there's not much hope for something amazing, but I doubt the owner would remodel on speculation.
  19. We all remember what happened when Central Square went see-through...
  20. Night shot with Tarakaan in the foreground. They only have a little bit of sidewalk work to wrap up the exterior. A sign on Main says it's now open.
  21. Is that crushed granite or pavers? Crushed granite just ends up making a mess.
