Houston's Best Lounges?
Naviguessor replied to Montrose1100's topic in Houston Area Dining, Shopping and Entertainment
...but your right. View from Monarch is great. One of the best. Love the whole ZaZa but the restaurant has been hit or miss. Used to be fantastic though. -

You're right. There is an omni there. This design just isn't seem quite sexy/flashy enough for a W. -

Remember when Hyatt's were the most spectacular piece of architecture being built in a city? That was fun.

They are loading big refinery towers to barges. They also did this a couple months ago. Not construction cranes. Unfortunately.

Uptown Park: Shopping Center At 1121 Uptown Park Blvd.

Anyone guess is as good as anyone's. Mine would be that if they were planning/considering a very tall building is that they wouldn't telegraph it a tall blue box. I also doubt that they would build two high end residential towers (resi/hotel) right next to each other and obstruct views of high end units. Two shorter blue boxes could portray the mass of the structure(s) that they have in mind, however. -
True That. It's as if they knew what they were going to do with it. Just concepts so far, right?

Nailed it! ;-) But, it's not a "houston developers" pattern. I've lived/followed other cities with truly dissaponting developer downsizing.

I wonder if this would be the lot JUST south of the SuperBlock, just north of the big HCC Building. This would make a good focal point from the park....kind of what I was hoping for from the apartments On the SuperBlock.

Someone, someday will have to explain to me just how the "moon phase" lighting effect is supposed to work. Does the lighting change with the changing phases of the moon? If so, how? Or, does the white and blue light effects represent the light and dark sides of the moon? I just can't figure it out.

Dillards would love to be invited to attend theGalleria's party. But...Simon won't have them. It'd cheapen the Brand, they think.

Of course, Semi's will be going up there (or rather going down there). That's what the ramp is for. I'm sure that Houston First/engineers took this into account.

The big mystery block that this building faces, behind the Marquis, should reveal itself soon...I would imagine. It's almost the only unclaimed parcel in the immediate area.

I don't think that this is anything new...just renderings that we haven't seen and a few more details, like the additional space atop the garage. Still looks good to me.- 1,170 replies

Looks to me like as though The front is offices and parking garage behind. Nice. Glad they went lateral with the idea rather than vertical. Now if the hotel is eventually added, it won't look all HoliDays Inn.

How would you propose to handle the additional passenger traffic that international flights will generate? This international gateway was southwest's idea. And, Southwest is not a freespending, cash wielding company. I am sure that it was done as efficiently as possible. What do you think it would cost to Build a C&I Facility, Doubledeck, or Double Skin for international arrival passenger traffic and expand the boomerang to accommodate additional aircraft? Sounds more expensive, less efficient, clumsy and more expensive to me. In fact, nothing about the Additional terminal seems extravagant or unnecessary. Important qualities of both SWA and City of Houston.

Because they were designed that way, or retrofitted accordingly. And are the only commercial airports in those cities. Trying to understand your point. Surely you have travelled internationally and understand this.
