  1. ^^ Yes. I could see that. Central, located by the amenities. Doesn't appear to be wrapped around parking. Let's hope.
  2. Saw those renderings in the recent Modern Interiors Magazine, in an "article" about the architecture firm. I just scanned the text but didn't notice any mention of the Waterlight District. My feeling here is that they are unrelated. Those seem to be huge, showcase type "pavilions", like you said, which doesn't fit the description or the property layout. Hope I'm wrong.
  3. Mainline rail lines a very limited in the grade that the tracks can be built, unlike Lightrail. Ever see the rail line approaches to the the Huey P Long Bridge in NOLA? They go on for Miles on either side of the Bridge. The issue here may be that once the tracks go under Richmond, they may not have enough distance to be at surface level by Bissonnet. I may be wrong...and don't know much on the subject, but once in the trench...it takes a lot of distance to come back out.
  4. Would have to do San Felipe, Richmond and possibly Bissonnet and Bellaire too. Seems inevitable. LA Did this recently along the Alameda Corridor from their Port to Downtown. Much busier corridor though...surface and rail.
  5. I'm very sure that it would be a wide mix of residences. Maybe the Chinese developers were just trying to be respectful of their (and our) elders. Maybe "geared toward seniors" means "Accessable to Seniors" or "Appealling to people with time and money on their hands". I'm sorry...just bored today and getting a bit carried away. The renderings certainly suggest something interesting and dramatic...although I'm not sure just what exactly.
  6. Was being toally sarcastic. The developers just seemed to be really emphasizing this aspect of the development...but the Architect seems to be in the dark. I agree with you, Cloud, that it would be great to see a nice mixed use destination type development here. Especially if it includes a Luby's. ;-)
  7. I guess when the developers stated that the development would be "geared toward seniors" could've meant the graduating class. "2013 Seniors forever, yall! Woooo!"
  8. ^^ It would make an interesting Bat Colony as the rendering suggests. Actually...I am sure it already is one.
  9. OMG. It's so Pearland, in a Geriatric sort of way. Just everything about it.
  10. I'm Sorry...what's the problem with the rendering and why is this such a disappointment?
  11. Change the names of Richmond and Post Oak, then lay the rail down.
  12. Peabody is a good guess. And the traditional/conservative nature of the property seems to lend itself well to the Peabody brand.
  13. ^Marriott is no "dumb " company. Let's assume they know what they are doing. I'm guessing Sheraton replaces. But...what difference does it make. There's almost always is a cycle with properties.
  14. This is not a commuter rail idea for the city to take cars off of the streets. It is an intercity connector that would planes out of the sky. I would be far too expensive for a daily commute into and out of town or even just to the airport, or probably from Downtown Houston to the Woodlands. It may Makes sense for Business people from Dallas to commute to the Woodlands, but not much else.
  15. I guess on Texas Central can answer that, at this point.
  16. Quite sure they require special dedicated tracks, for stretches where they travel at high speed.but, at standard gauge so they can transfer to standard tracks.
  17. ^^ Agreed. I wish she could articulate her vision of Houston in the future a bit better, because I know she has one. But, her actions speak pretty clearly in this case. And congrats to her and Kathy on their Wedding.
  18. Maybe it's already been stated elsewhere...but I can't find it. Which block is #35?
  19. And I was just noticing the "concrete tree" theme at 610 & Ella this weekend. Love the vertical/horizontal/wave scheme concepts. Just not sure how I feel about the cement likenesses of trees however. Maybe once it's completed... Thanks for the education.
  20. What are these "schemes" of which you speak? Sounds interesting.
  21. Thanks wxman. Fascinating contribution and information. It's staggering to consider both Chevron and Shell moving from downtown. I think you did a great job/service getting info out of your contact. That's the kind of info that makes this forum interesting and worth reading. Even if it's sometimes disappointing. I'm just hoping it turns out to be mostly wrong. Keep digging.
  22. Who really knows what the article was referring too. Associating the apartment on Gulfton as Galleria Area" make excellent marketing sense for an area that doesn't have such a definable or positive marketable identity. The Hines development at Westheimer and Shepherd however could be marketed as "River Oaks" "Montrose" or "Upper Kirby" even. I believe that these marketing locals would more residential selling power than "Galleria Area" which could mean Gulfton. No one from Hines would call this development Galleria Area, and neither would anybody else...at least not any more. What I believe the comment is referring to is the development by the Waterwall, which is A Hines Project. And apparently as the comment was plural. It makes sense to assume that there may be more than on such development planned. Reasonable to assume.
