  1. ^^ Ya know that's right! Wasn't the River Oaks Oppostion foretelling of Highrises up and down Shepherd, in some type of visual? What if?
  2. Thanks, Shasta. Nice to have interesting, informed and useful insight...rather doomsday prophecies and knee jerks. Appreciate the level head.
  3. Let Dallas/Ft W have more stops. Gives us Houstonians for destination choices. It would be nice to terminate the South end of the line in Galveston, however.
  4. Let's not get too excited (or disappointed) by Swamplot. The owners obviously are not ready to make an announcement "Nothing has been decided". The full plan probably isn't final, but there is certainly something "happening". Money is being spent...people are being paid...changes are being made to the property every day. These things don't happen unless someone has some intentions. The owners will make an announcement on their own time...not when some blog asks them about a Green Fence being set up.
  5. This is a modern highrise. Brick is really inappropriate in this context. I disagree that the museum tower is "classy" and the fact that's it's a huge brick box is most of the problem. Have always been disappointed by it. Swamplot was speculating about ground floor arrangements. I'm sure Hines sees the benefits of retail at the base and will take advantage of it if possible. I still really like the overall design and look we are seeing.
  6. Don't think it's a ban...more a gentleman's agreement. And let's hope that they all remain gentlemen. Otherwise we'd look more like Dallas...and I, for one, don't want that.
  7. There is a snack bar/food service area too which is under construction. But, it's of a different design. A bit more conventional design, so far.
  8. So excited about this project. Probably more than anything else happening in Houston currently. This will really increase the quality of life for our citizens and will be the first place I take out-of-town visitors.
  9. Damn. Didn't see that coming. But, I am sure that it will be worth the wait.
  10. The "Millions" Would be in tax breaks, I believe. So...if you not in the city, you don't owe the city any taxes...so there would be no breaks.
  11. Fernz - What's the rumor's source...without being to specific, if you can't be?
  12. http://www.buffalobayou.org/documents/2012BBPAnnualReport10.01_000.pdf Lot's of good stuff in there about the North Canal and East End Plans too.
  13. I'm following you like cold air follows rain, weatherman. I like the building too and also hopes it gets built. This with the new Hines tower will reshape the view of the skyline from the north however. It will add dimension and character to the view. My problem with it is more microcosmic. Market Square is a small jewel in. This building will lord over the public space in a very domineering way. I'd like to see a highrise here, but perhaps something a lit more residential and interactive rather than something as Corporate, 9-5, M-F. The awful Parking structure to the NW is unfortunate enough. I'm not complaining about the Essex Tower , I'd just rather see something more as I described. I recognize that this is Houston.
  14. And just to the left of that, in same size, colors and font, it says "5: The number of grad opening nights hosted for the debut of Galleria III in 1986."
  15. It's not. But Hyatt's just aren't what they used to be. Before they were anything but boring. This design looks like it could be any Marrihilaton. I'm sure it'll be nice though.
  16. Nobody has said that it's on hold, however. This forum is just speculating that this it may be so. They just aren't breaking ground or have a sexy model to show of. It just may not yet be their time. It'd be difficult to steal Hines' thunder right now. Best not to try, I believe.
