The one alley in Houston - I'll be there ready to fight 1114 Texas Ave. All you weinies who cry about how this or that project doesn't fit your perfect world I will fight you with my keyboard!!! No seriously, my dad called me today from Chicago, a furniture dealer closed a $55 million dollar deal here in Htown (cough cough West Beltway). This would be a entire year for any other city in the country. You can't make the rules or tell people where to build, just be happy you don't live anywhere else. Rant over - but seriously if someone complains about the stars one more time... I'll be in the alley....

Thumbs up - and meet me in the alley if you want to hate on this project. OH BOOOOO - go play sim city haters!!!!!!!!!!!!! or move!

Very cool - my neighbor mentioned the house next to Ron's auto was a brothel anyone remember that or have more info? -

DT can still surprise me - without anyone spending too much time. Name your top 3 abandonded spaces in DT and what you would do with it. No pie in the sky stuff - projects that could actually happen within the next 5 years. Me first. 1. Melrose Building - 1121 Walker - Condos. 2. 1114 Texas Ave - Home2Suites/Hilton and or condos 3. Days Inn - demolished and park in it's place

Hahaha +1 it's hard not to think of this as a bunch of kids redoing a fort. I sense a similar out of money plea as the holiday inn / savoy coming any day although I hope I'm sorely mistaken...

Since everyone is hating on this thread ignoring me and would rather complain like old ladies with their perms drying about other boring stuff. Let me tell you something... whatever you think about Ground Floor Retail DOES NOT MATTER! The market will dictate what it wants! You are a small part of the market! You are only one person and complaining on this forum does not help your one vote! Get a bunch of people to think like you and you MAY change the market reality, more than likely you will spend your time typing away at HAIF and if you actually get people to listen you should run for office. Very few people vote. Rant over but seriously, guys this is off topic slightly and feel free to delete. 12 beers = a seemingly beautiful rant that I am sure I will shake my head tomorrow. This is an exciting piece of property soon to be free of most things that will give you cancer, next to some section 8 housing that won't last and I am excited to see what comes. Drive down Dallas St and you will be pleased. New apts, new dentist office GFR they sell toothpaste!!!! Keeping my eye on this one and all of you out there at HAIF. Time for another beer , Maaa the MEEEatLOAAAFFF! -

http://www.houstontx.gov/council/1/bfacommittee/4.19.12/gilletteproperty.pdf http://swamplot.com/crews-move-in-to-clean-a-slice-of-land-off-allen-parkway/2014-05-19/ Couldn't find the thread I thought already existed; it may have been the apartments next door. Looks like the CWA bought the property from the city to clean it up and sell? I am confused, a swamplot commenter said water park is coming here. Got me slightly excited. Anyone know whats up? -
Haha you guys are so full of BRAZOS river sediment it's not even funny. Would one of you gladly like to commute DT then commute the freaking 30 minutes up this hypothetical garage. Sounds like a nightmare to me and probably the reason garages are usually capped including in NYC & CHI - simply not feasible to spend a half an hour going up in a spiral. smh

bumping because this building to me is not boring - ate at Irma's today and couldn't help but imagine what that little corner of DT may turn into soon. Irma's the OG loc one is so legit. Pricey but seriously one of a kind. No menu, just talk to the fam.- 27 replies

1. Dollar General 2. Used Piano Store 3. A Cash Checking Spot Don't feed the trolls or they will bite back! Seriously... I would say 1.Trader Joes (small footprint) and better than fighting the mess on Alabama from MIdtown. New reidents got to eat and I don't think it would kill Phoenicia which I love. 2.A country bar like a little gimicky but a real honky tonk. It's honestly the only thing DFW has on us; rebels ha this response should be fun to watch !

Hahahahaha I love this building and glad it's not empty. I hope all the GFR fanatics go and show their support and browse the pianos even if they don't play. So random!!! I actually play and don't have a piano here so HOGG building here I come!!!
