  1. Had a couple margarita's there last weekend - there were definitely a good amount of people there for a Sunday. Crazy.
  2. I feel your pain regarding the clientele of the neighborhood changing but agree with RedScare - you knew what Midtown was and is when you bought here and zoning would do nothing to change the fact that Midtown is a booming neighborhood that people want to be in. The crowds will change, bars will come and go and life will go on. Think of the alternative - empty blocks and low valued townhomes and real estate. Not to call anyone out; but on other threads complaining of the bars and noise next to their property, I don't hear people complaining about the town-home they bought for $275,000 now conservatively valued at $360,000 There is a red-brick townhome off bagby listed for 485K and it will probably bring something in that range - two new monstrous townhomes behind Metro Midtown just went up both option pending they were listed at 629K!!! There's always a quiet cul-de-sac in Sealy where you will inherit a whole new set of gripes i.e. Nosy mothers, kids skateboarding on your curb, HOA's, rules of what you can and can't do and general "Pleasentville flurf" I put this link here bc I too was outraged at a hit and run and a lady dying in the street and didn't like that no one was talking about it. Who knows for all we know it could have been a car coming off 59 making their way through Midtown. I love Midtown and all the change that's happening here and with all the new apartments and development I'm excited to see what it turns in to.

  4. Would be smart and genius to bring some residential aspect - even just an modest apt tower - like 10 stories into this or on one of the surrounding blocks - you listening Magic? Regards, Visionary Amateur Expert
  5. Comments on the swamplot article made me LOL From Stating the Obvious:The steaks are made from Peeples?!?!?!? April 3, 2013 at 8:27 am
  6. So this is on the Whole Foods - Apartment Side of Montrose? Does anyone know what this is going to be? More from the APTS down Dallas? There's a little run down former convenience store or there was a couple weeks ago?

  9. It's not like I need more options I just think there's money to be made - I was in louisville last week and went to a subway at 1 AM - the fact that the subway in the heart of midtown next to shot bar closes at 10pm is the craziest thing to me _ no shit they are missing out on a tens of housansa Thousands**
  10. If you did this on reddit you would be in bad shape. Merge threads - being discussed elsewhere ...
  11. Right before Hardy dumpts to 45 you can see about 9 cranes ?- didn't have my phone ready but I'll snap a more recent pic. Pretty impressive.
  12. Way to ruin my thunder! JK - in any case I posted from my phone quickly bc I was jacked after my aforementioned great night out in MS - I can't believe what else is in the works! Sorry for the delayed respones... Romas was a good slice - $3 quick and easy can't beat it. (Why is there no legit late night spot in Midtown ) Waffle House? Clutch City's prices were very reasonable - bartender was very chatty "in a good way" owner was talking to us too. Happy Hour 4-9 $5 gets you a TX Draft and a shot of Jameson.
  13. Looks like les grivals will be replaced by restaurant and coffee shop next door http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2013/03/clumsy_butcher_bobby_heugel_an.php Man my post was spot on!! Stolen from reddit The 300-500 block of Main just became... (self.houston) submitted 3 hours ago by fixedtehknollpost The densest concentration of bars in the city. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2013/03/clumsy_butcher_bobby_heugel_an.php http://www.29-95.com/bars-clubs/story/heugel-company-open-tequia-bar-main-st The surrounding area anyway. At least 15 full bars and a brewpub in less than a two block radius. And there are at least two more coming. From nearly dead to an entertainment district in under 18 months.
  14. Game changer - build it while we can!! Oils up - htowns hot - why only cookie cutter apts and sprawled Developement - ill guarantee this a success trust me I stayed at a holiday inn expresses last night!
  15. Between Dogwood on Bagby - new OTC (Union Bar) & this new addition Midtown nightlife is definitely picking up - the cynic in me can't help but wonder if Midtown isn't going to get a flow of a certain crowd from Washington Ave.
  16. This just got personal C H I P O T L E - now so much closer this is bad... real bad for my waistline.
  17. Spent Tuesday night downtown with a buddy. Started at Franklin Tap - then over to OKRA - then to Clutch City Squire and finished off the night with a NYC Slice from Roma's Pizza. Had a great night and all the new spots had customers and were not dead by any means. Talked to one of the owners of Clutch City - the building has a ridiculous history including a "one-way" safe door only opened from the former bank next door. I will be bringing friends to this area and truly believe it has a ton of potential to put a huge booster shot in DT nightlife. Also, the additional nearby spots that are just empty waiting for something new; I believe could be a huge benefit. Now just pump in one or two residential towers and we would be "cooking with kerosene" ! http://houston.eater.com/archives/2013/03/20/a-look-inside-goro-gun-opening-friday.php "Started with Original OKRA Charity Saloon and continued with Clutch City City Squire is only building more momentum with Goro & Gun. By the beginning of April, Justin Burrow's Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar and Spirit Lounge and Latin American restaurant Batanga will open"
  18. Stopped by Market Square last night after a bike ride with a friend. Started at Franklin Tap (Former Magnolia Brewery) then checked out OKRA. Very nice night and both places were not dead by any means for a Tuesday night. OKRA inside is really beautiful.
  19. True - give it 6-9 months and something new will pop up then it may just be a convenience to be so close. I see more bars popping up further down Bagby as construction finishes. Is UNION bar closed? PS -I've posted about it before but can we please install and light up Bagby at night. Pitch black still many months later.
  20. Do you live in the red brick or the white stucco? Already pretty busy area - and it's not a club but a bar
  21. When I saw this post I figured Cafe Layal was closing down. I live close and it is pretty dead on most nights. Nice place, I've been and enjoyed it but something is off on the set-up / interior. Glad to see the improvements and maybe I need to give it another shot!
