  1. Building Inspired by nature and the waterways of Houston, Fitzroy Residences towers 32 stories high — and houses 191 condominiums, plus hotel rooms and amenities. The exterior features waves of curvy slabs, while the interior reflects Midtown’s fresh and urban feel. Anticipated ground breaking mid-2021. Estimated completion date late 2023.

  3. Land clearing going on now, but for what I'm not sure. Found a permit which has the name as "Buffalo Bayou LP, Bayou Vista".

  4. On the ground floor, tenants and guests will have access to 7K SF of retail as well as a lobby with touchless security turnstiles, app-based guest registration and destination dispatch elevators. The building’s floor plates will range from 16K SF to 26K SF. Austin-based architect Michael Hsu has been tapped to design the interior amenity spaces, which include a fitness center, rooftop event space and terrace on level 28, and community spaces throughout the property.

  6. It was 390' going off of the massing chart, so it should be pretty substantial in comparison to the surrounding area. It will eventually be dwarfed by the 3 others towers in this development if I got my expectations in check, to bad this part was shrunk due to what I suspect is a horrible period for hotels.

  8. Link: https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/01/15/caydon-announces-condo-hotel-project.html This from Houston Business Journal? There's also some more information about the full development in the article. Types of Units and Cost 16 studios with an average size of 567 square feet, starting at $279k 128 one bedroom ranging from 630 to 1099 square feet, starting at $285k 86 two bedroom ranging from 1107 to 2167 square feet, starting at $730k 4 three-bedroom penthouses ranging from 1686 to 2234 square feet, starting at $1.45 million. rest of project I don't know if this is new news, but it's a good reassurance that they're still planning to build the other towers.

  10. “I couldn't agree more. The transition from Midtown to Montrose is one of the best corridors in the city. I wish we could get funding for reconstruction of lower Westheimer.” => Notice faint sound of teeth grinding please remember ALL of the renovations of LOWER WESTHEIMER were COMPLETELY funded prior to Hurricane Harvey- The money as THERE! COH set of big committee , arranged community input, made a terrific little you tube video...etc...etc..etc big puff of breath At present renovations to Lower Westheimer have been attached to Renovations of Westheimer West of Montrose; that project is only partially funded........is the money de dictated to lower Westheimer available now? Who knows big sigh

  12. HarrisHealth System signage is up. Will be amazing once Houston Methodist also goes up. The West Loop in Bellaire is all medical now. Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist, HarrisHealth System, and Texas Children's Hospital.

  14. Right, not practical, just thinking about the immediate neighborhood. I wasn't meaning to lock them up, just to use a facility that's designed to be difficult to trash as a place out of the weather. No easy answers.

  16. This is also about to start in the area as well. Imagine being able to comfortably walk from Midtown to Shepherd or Kirby.

  17. I'm counting 32 stories on the tallest structure. Also, kind of interesting that they have a 10 story building sketched in for the Kroger parking lot.

  18. The other day I drove down Westheimer from Midtown for the first time in 6 months and WOW. I might sound crazy, but this area is starting to look like Melrose Ave in LA. Not as dense, but I swear it looks like an up and coming Melrose. 101 Westheimer Rd is repainting their buildings from a yellowish color to gray/black/white (matches the Pearl Whole Foods building) 215 Westheimer Rd went from a small building + big parking lot to a massive building with a small/ hidden parking 223 Westheimer Rd went from an old shotgun/suburban looking house to a extremely contemporary white building 243 Westheimer Rd went from an old rundown house/ restaurant + big parking lot to a massive contemporary building with hidden parking 424 Westheimer Rd went from a parking lot to an urban park 516 Westheimer Rd is remodeling and went from an ATROCIOUS Orange/ yellow paint to a dark gray/ black paint job 802 Westheimer Rd went from a shopping center with a huge front lot to whats becoming the Montrose collective 1001 Westheimer Rd.....THIS PROJECT! Even 3207 Montrose Blvd right across this project is undergoing some sort of renovations This is only what I observed and this is only from Bagby to Montrose blvd. If they rebuild the street with wider sidewalks with trees lined up, this area would seriously rival major streets in LA. Side note: I keep referencing LA because I feel like our architecture is most similar to LA compared to east coast cities. Sorry this post is so long 🙃

  19. I guess all the NFL teams playing the Texans stay at the Marriott Marquis. The Flaming Thumbtacks from Tennessee have an 18 wheeler in the loading dock.

  20. Kanau Sushi, the concept from Mike Lim (formerly Tobiuo), is now in its soft-opening phase at Drewery Place in Midtown (2850 Fannin St.). A full opening is set for January 4. Kanau offers contemporary Japanese food with table-side preparations and omakase options. Look for uni flights, “the tuna breakdown” in which Lim will cut a tuna into multiple dishes for guests, and French-infused cold dishes. It’ll be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. https://kanausushi.com

  21. I notice that there's no trace of a parking garage in this rendering, and wonder how deep they'd be willing to go for underground parking. Perhaps instead they have somewhere close by in mind. Is it sheer coincidence that Kroger is shuttering just as this project is getting underway? While Montrose Blvd is making progress to become a more pedestrian friendly destination street, the focus seems to be more on Lower Westheimer. A parking garage adequate for both this development and another could be squeezed onto the Kroger lot, especially if the developers petition the city to abandon that block of Lovett Blvd. (which would almost certainly be granted).

  22. Exactly! Similar to the arrangement between the Museum of Fine Arts and First Presbyterian Church.

  23. It would be a mistake to allow this. The area is very quickly becoming one of the most pedestrian-friendly parts of our city. Taking out pieces of the grid is the wrong way to go.

  24. Yup. Way too close. For those that don't know, to get to the Chenevert exit you essentially have to cut across two lanes immediately and hope there are no cars there when you do it. I am hoping TXDOT quickly realizes how dangerous this is and adds some traffic delineators to prevent people from trying to make that exit.
