Houston Downtown Aquarium must pay a Texas woman nearly $3 million for injuries she suffered while visiting the Landry's-owned entertainment complex, a Harris County jury ruled last week.

Glenda Lammert, 76, suffered a "fairly horrific break" when her ankle got caught in a trench next to a rowboat in a dark section of the Aquarium on March 12, 2018, her attorney Joshua Davis said. The consequences of the injury continue to linger to this day, according to the lawsuit she filed against Landry's in the 11th District Court.

Ten members of the jury awarded Lammert $2.825 million in a non-unanimous decision that was rendered Wednesday, Jan. 24, according to Harris County court records. The in-house litigation council for Landry's said in a statement that the award is "excessive" and the company will appeal the ruling.
