Nate99 Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Just opened today, there will be a Chick-Fil-a there in the not too distant future. For now, it's just more tables. 3 Quote
samagon Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 I promise, I'll take my real camera with me and go shooting downtown after work once we get back in DST. 3 Quote

Nate99 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 I watched these guys place some HVAC equipment on top of a Costco. Looks like a fun job. 2 Quote
Ross Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 Sikorsky S58bt or ET. 60 years old, reengined with PWPT6 turbines. Originally had a radial engine that burned gasoline, not what you want to fly into a war zone. These are variants of the H34 helicopter. 5 Quote

samagon Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 wow, that's awesome, looking at Jones Plaza in the background, I know it was rebuilt from the original, but I'm now more interested in seeing this original design. 2 Quote
Subdude Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 The second photo has the only clear picture I've ever seen of the Western Union building that was incorporated into the Bank of America tower. 5 Quote

I started a job in early 1982 in the building seen in the upper left corner of this photo (the HL&P Electric Tower Annex), and had a clear view out of those windows. Couldn't ask for a better ringside seat to watch Republic Bank (as it was known then) go from excavation to completion. For many years afterward people would argue with me as to whether it was only an urban legend that there was a building contained within the banking lobby. 4 Quote

If you've seen one side, you've seen all four. It was completely symmetrical, and about as inviting as your average grocery store parking lot. 6 Quote

urbanize713 Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Anyone know what is being done to it? It is surrounded by scaffolding covering the sidewalk on all sides. 2 Quote
hindesky Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 I remember a helicopter installing a window washing system 4 yrs ago, I wonder if they are about to use it? Quote
Montrose1100 Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 I was wondering what the red thing is that is adorning the top portion. Looks like a giant red tarp rolled up. Quote

Sometime in the mid-80's two window washers were on the upper floors of the north facade when a gust of wind caught the platform and propelled it to the end of the rail on the west side of the building. The blocks at the end of the rail which should have stopped the platform failed, and the platform flew off and plummeted to the street below. Tragically, the window washers and a pedestrian were killed. The woman standing next to the pedestrian lost a toe. It was a pleasant sunny day, just about lunchtime, and it's a miracle that there weren't more victims. 2 Quote
Highrise Tower Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 Thought this was a cool picture. The facade was being washed and had slightly different tint/color. Photo I took the other day. 5 Quote
