Houston’s beloved canoe and kayak race is back! Explore our city’s urban waterway at this year’s BBP Regatta on Saturday, March 23. Participants can choose to paddle solo, with a partner, or as a Team Sponsor along a 15-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou.

Whether you’re in it to win it or paddling for fun, you’ll be part of a longstanding Houston tradition that supports BBP’s work to create and steward welcoming green space along our historic waterway.

It would have to go on the north side of the Bayou, because River Oaks, and ROCC are not going to allow pedestrians, runners or cyclist in their backyards.

It might be a good place for a highline like in NYC, above Memorial drive. That would be an incredible view of downtown if costs didn't matter.

I am being told: "We are working through contract reviews on this now. Short answer is that we will start design this spring, that will take 12-18 months, then another 12 months of permitting and then construction (another 12-18 months). We are at least three years out. These projects take forever. "

In a milestone moment for the city’s long-awaited Hispanic History Research Center, more than 200 Houston residents packed into a dilapidated warehouse Saturday in the East End for a community forum to discuss the future of the promised Latino-focused archival library.

Hosted by Council Members Mario Castillo, Joaquin Martinez and Julian Ramirez, the self-coined “Three Amigos” and the city’s only Latino council members, the forum was the first opportunity for community input on a project that has been in the works for years but has, until now, made little progress.

The planned Houston Public Library facility was first added to the city’s projects listduring former Mayor Sylvester Turner’s administration after voters approved funding in a 2017 bond issue, but library representatives said natural disasters like hurricanes and the pandemic delayed the project.
