This project continues to deliver truly "exceptional" / original design ideas.  I have been involved in a number of projects where we demolished tons of that green marble.

This dude should not be trusted with a 58 story building!!!!

🤣 probably the cheapest stone they could find..

I agree that it is tacky. In fact, I find the whole building to be gaudy and ugly.

However, Houston has no shortage of sterile glass boxes. I think the city could stand to have a few tasteless, garish, and cheesy buildings.

Over the coming decades, for better or worse, this building will be a landmark. No doubt.

Needs neon accent lighting.

He probably went to the Randall Davis School of Architecture.

Funny enough, I like people with eclectic tastes. I'm also someone with eclectic tastes. There are those people that have eclectic tastes (more than likely because they are heterodox in nature), and then there are those that have...well...their tastes are just...different haha. Lets just go with that.

Sorry for being very late to this party, but what is the latest on the 58-floor tower? Is that still in the works?

It’s still in the long term plan, for what that’s worth. I suspect the hotel will be next given Dr. Mann’s statements. I’m skeptical the tower will happen just given the difference in scale between it and other residential that’s been done in Houston and given the lack of a brand name developer (e.g. Hines, Skanska) behind it.

Can't say I like the term "medical arts". I want a higher grade of predictability and consistency from my medicine, and fewer opportunities for the "medical artist" to express their feelings.

Have you seen Paris Hilton lately? Her plastic surgeon is Michelangelo with a scalpel. That’s a medical artist.

The Medical Arts Building was a new American genre in professional and civic life.  Don’t know if there’s a book about them but dozens of cities had one, and the design was frequently worth a long lingering look.  Here are a few.
