  1. Most of the remodels I'm familiar with have been done by retirees and professionals like myself who have up-dated the mechanics and added on-keeping with the current style-and enjoy the advantages of close-in living in addition to living in something more authentic than a poorly copied VicMansion. At least if you're going to copy a style, do it well. Most of my artsy friends live in Independence Heights tin cans because the Heights are just too expensive for them anymore. They are great living and working studio spaces but I'm not the tin can kinda guy...yet
  2. Exactly plus it's been my experience women seem to have a higher degree of honesty over-all. Besides, if Texas can elect women as Govenor and Senator, I think we can handle a female inspector or two.
  3. Thanks. 2br/2b/2 car garage and a big back and side yard. Just the right size for my husband and me.
  4. DJ, That has no relevance to what Bush lied about regarding what Gore actually DID say-and was praised by the father of the internet for taking the initiative But the real question is what, if anything, did Gore actually do to create the modern Internet? According to Vincent Cerf, a senior vice president with MCI Worldcom who's been called the Father of the Internet, "The Internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it and related research areas by the Vice President in his current role and in his earlier role as Senator." I'll take that guy's word over Bush anyday as well.
  5. Gore never said he invented the internet. George Bush SAID he said it. Honestly do you really want to use Bush as some form of real reference?
  6. I'll stick with my 87 yo old house with the original roof that has survived umpteen hurricanes. You can have all the poorly built, sterile, future ghetto McMansions.
  7. Of course they owe us. They'd be zip without us. I'm just looking for a copy of this elusive "Homosexual Agenda."
  8. Hey Coog, I'll ask one more time: could you send me a copy of the "Homosexual Agenda?" You seem to be the only one who's up on it. I'm assuming you're the recording secretary?
  9. You are killing me, Red! BtW, Vinnie is a bit too nelly for me.
  10. I can think of one good reason not to annex The Woodlands: the introduction of thousands of Republicans who would add to the vote to deny me the same rights they have. It's bad enough to be subjected to second-class citizenship while adding even more to the straight population which holds special rights not afforded to me. On the other hand I can think of so many good reasons to annex their business tax base-which LOVES my money-and leave the residential alone until it's more advantagous for the city as a whole.
  11. I suggest you check out Puma's blog then come back and tell us how you think Miss Billingsly's stacks up. I've got my money on Puma. BTW, Frank's one and only entry is for Nov. 30. where he announces it is in fact "Cold as the Dickens!"
  12. Suburban Nation: The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream Picture Windows: How the Suburbs Happened The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York You can probably find them on Amazon.
  13. We used: Granite and Marble Connection 8355 N. Fwy. 281.448.0944 Price as of Mar. 2005: 56 l/f 41.33 per ft. installed: $2,314.48 1 undermount sink installation: $180.00 They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive but they were the most reliable and conscientious. They have ton's of slabs on-site to choose from in all price ranges. We choose a mid-priced slab for the kitchen. They came out, pre-measured and installed on time. It took them about 3 weeks from the day we put down half until the day they finished. This was one of the few subs who actually performed as promised. This was the piece for the slide-in oven. They had to bring in a solid piece and make the cut-out IN the house because it couldn't be transported safely with the two sides only connected by the thin strip behind the range. If you want min. cutting inside the house, you may want to just request they do it in 3 pieces-although one continuous piece looks pretty sharp. The cut-outs for the two sinks and hardware were included in the per/ft price. The under-mount was $180.00 including the hardware installation. I did the bar sink/hardware install myself. The price did not include the white marble back-splash [or the dirty breakfast dishes.] We did that ourselves. This a piece they did for one our bathroom vanities-nice edge work.
  14. The lipstick rarely stays on the pig but the owners definatly will walk away with the bacon. I'm skeptical of this as well
  15. When you click on options at the top of the page all it does is scroll down to last post...
  16. Thanks! It's a great improvement!
  17. "The Woodlands would be nothing but a deer lease if it weren't for the city of Houston," he said. "Residents of The Woodlands enjoy the golden goose of Houston. They get the benefits of working here during the day and then going back to their comfortable, homogenous, bedroom communities at night." http://www.offthekuff.com/mt/
  18. Don't be sorry just because the guy who created the topic decided to label the victims "morons." It seems HAIF has turned into just another news service. But do we really need to discuss the Kims here? It's all out there without having to have endless threads with topics that are pasted from yahoo and USA. The occasional is OK but threads like this that are opened only to bash the victims...
  19. Why hasn't Frisco lobbied to have their soccer team named after...Frisco? Imagine the PR value! After all, they are no different than the Arlington Rangers and Irving-soon to be Arlington-Cowboys. I'd grab the glory of being the home base of these teams instead of abdicating it to a place they don't exist: Dallas.
  20. Does anyone know the balance of Carr's contract and/or what it might take to buy him out? Not being tacky or sarcastic-just curious.
  21. http://mediamatters.org/items/200610020013EVERYONE could have scored points if they had just blamed...FOLEY!!! from the get-go...instead of trying to deflect it towards anyone BUT FOLEY
