I'm with Red...what DOES that mean anyway? In any event, they will not be locked in. They are going to be encouraged to get out and take advantage of all the freebies offered at the museums, the zoo, sports, etc...

Rice University History At 6100 South Main St.
nmainguy replied to Ashikaga's topic in Historic Houston
This is from http://riceowls.collegesports.com/faciliti...ce-stadium.html The Stadium has a storied history, borne from the University's football tradition. Fifty-three years ago, Rice fielded one of its greatest teams. The 1949 Owls, led by all-Americas Froggy Williams and Joe Watson, won the Southwest Conference championship and the 1950 Cotton Bowl with a 10-1 record. The Owls posted an 8-4 overall record, their best record since 1950. In that span, Rice was 5-0 at home. However, old Rice Stadium (now the Rice Track/Soccer Stadium) seated less than 37,000 fans. Houston's civic leaders decided the old structure was not a proper venue for the SWC champions, much less a city with a future so bright. The idea for the new Rice Stadium was born. Rice Stadium was also the site for JFK's famous moon speech. http://vesuvius.jsc.nasa.gov/er/seh/ricetalk.htm- 113 replies

kjb434: I can no longer hold my tounge. You are a student? You rarely compose a complete, coherent sentence. [Young college grads are large part of Houston's growth...The all have sprawl and lots people that drive on large freeways.] Are you allergic to the words "a", "They" and "of"? Try to insert those 3 in the previous 2 sentences I've pasted from your post. Your posts many times are practically unreadable. This is just my pet peave: people who profess to be educated and consistantly display a total lack of grammer, spelling and lack of punctuation. It's not that I just disagree with your growth at any cost-damn the torpedos-add more freeway lanes forever-philosophy-it's just that you are so damn sloppy. -
What a great idea, skwatra! All my NFL fan buddys would love to have a chance to see 2 teams play on the same day in adjoining stadiums. Texans at noon and the Saints at 5? Maybe we could just invite the Saints to stay-permanantly

Frank LLoyd Wright accepted the AIA gold medal at the Shamrock in 1949. Upon arriving for the ceremony he commented, " I see the sham, where's the rock?" Thank who-ever for tearing down one of the most grotesque pieces of architecture ever built anywhere.- 63 replies

quote=pineda,Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 @ 2:51pm] "I square danced on the Don Mahoney and Jeana Claire Show!" LOL, anyone remember Cadet Don and Kitterick on KTRK (Ch. 13)? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't quite know how to seque from the Prudential to Don Mahoney but here goes. Apparently Heights2Bastrop, pineda and myself have retained a few brain cells. I was on KiTiRiK's birthday carosel...get it KTRK? I remember cadet don too and seymore. Did you know Annette O'Toole got her start on Don Mahoney and Jean Claire's show? I always thought that Bunny Orsack aka Kitirik in the cat outfit was cool-skin tight one piece with fishnet stockings and black spiked heels...kinda sexey but I new I was gay when i developed a huge crusch on Cadet Don Click here http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/4931/ki...cadetdon6ui.png for a pic of the 2 of them together...[keep your paws off my man you mangy cat!!!]

Man! An Instant Downtown! As far as the demographics go, I did see one black guy as [i'm assuming] paid entertainment. All in all, however, it looks whiter than white to me...somwhat like Disneyland when I was a kid. I'll take my grungy old downtown any day of the week. Each to his own, I suppose.

I wonder if the Romans had this kind of debate about the Colosseum in 900 AD. "I say Et tu Colosseum! I thrust my sword of fire in thine side!" "Domitian has left us with an elephant of whitness!!! Death to Domitian!!" Or maybe some joe blow said, "Aw shut your pie-hole, this place is going to be a HUGE tourist attraction one day! Imagine the income from shops, hotels, restaurants, bars! It's a genuine relic, dudes! I'm talkin future cash cow! Just a cautionary tale from the past.

Here's a handy solution to dog crap in your yard from my best friend's experience: When you catch the ass-wipe (pun intended), descretly follow him/her/it to find out where they live. Return home, package the crap in a plastic bag, deposit it-less the plastic bag-on their door-step with a friendly note...something like, "I won't piss on your door if you don't let your dog crap in my yard. Have a nice day! Oh yeah, about the "White people" thing, I've never actually seen a white person. I am a light tan, anglo-saxon caucasion. There are only 3 races. There are inumarable ethnicities within that group. Let's not confuse them...but I digress. The park will be great!

New guy here...yeah that rendering is way dated. I agree that a park would be a great addition to the area...kind of like a mini Central Park...but that's not going to happen. At least they won't build that mundane monstrosity in the rendering.
