  1. "To be sure, the estimated $44 million project will add more shine to downtown's overall revitalization, which includes new residential towers, hotels and restaurants. Yet, unlike some of the historic structures nearby, the original facade of 723 Main will remain hidden beneath cladding that was placed over it 50 years ago." http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/real-estate/article/Downtown-s-Main-Street-to-see-more-upscale-changes-8214081.php?t=65f3fd172a&cmpid=twitter-premium
  2. Awesome news! Also don't forget the bottom corner of the Gulf Building being converted back to retail across the street. Exciting times indeed.
  3. There are multiple ones. Saw one two nights ago at Hobby when I flew back from Vegas.
  4. Tried looking through the thread to find the answer but correct me if I'm wrong, the lobby will be on the 2nd floor with retail on the street level? Thanks.
  5. Yea I wonder when they are going to start building out the restaraunts. The leasing office said they planned to be open mid to late summer. They also had a rendering for the restaraunt on the other side that has a covered patio area. I'll have to take a picture the next time I'm there...
  6. Won't be open in time for the Super Bowl.... http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Hotel-Alessandra-will-not-open-in-time-for-Super-7738083.php
  7. I got 6 weeks free which is prorated over the first 3 months rent. So the first 3 months my rent is half. Then I also got a $500 off of my 4th months rent. I move in June 1st.
  8. I stopped by the complex during an astros game last Saturday and outside the building you can hear the crowd, but inside one of the units facing the stadium I couldn't hear anything.
  9. ^ Nice find! So I'd imagine they'll be knocking those buildings down that currently occupy the lots.
  10. They're actually on floor 24. Once that is done only 4 more left. I figure it'll top out sometime in Mid June. I'm loving this building.
  11. Threw down a deposit for this place. Move in June 1st when my unit is ready. Wow this place is so nice when I went on the tour. The gym is massive and the resident lounge areas are huge with a ton of tvs. They are still working on the sports lunge that overlooks Minute Maid Park at the top and I'm curious how much you can see when the roof is open. The leasing office said that 20+ residents have already moved in and many units that aren't complete yet (included mine) have already been reserved. Residents can also order room service from The Westin across the street and they'll deliver. A few pictures from the view I'll have.
  12. I walked inside the Hilton Americas the Friday of Final Four week and the lobby was PACKED with people and Pappasito's was slammed as well. Hilton pioneered this area (well if you don't include the Four Seasons) so they didn't include GFR and other amenities in the development because nothing was around it except GRB and a new Toyota Center. Now that we have a convention district they have added the Starbucks, made Pappasito's accessible from the street with a patio. I love the hotel. With that said, I do think the Marriott will blow it out of the water though.... lol
  13. I drove by over the weekend and noticed chairs on a balcony facing MMP so the southern portion of the building could possibly already be open as it was further along than the northern half. They mentioned that people would start moving in back in March.
  14. The last we've heard was that Houston First wants this block to be retail/residential. "Houston First Corporation is offering a premier downtown block next to the future hotel development near the George R. Brown Convention Center for residential and retail use." http://www.houstonconventionctr.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=SzVHJ0n947E=&tabid=132
  15. OH heck yea!!! I feel as if The Galleria area and Downtown are now competing for development, which is a good thing! find a way to connect a rail line between the two areas.
  16. This corner is a prime location as it is across the street from the JW Marriott and at the intersection of two different rail lines. It also has me thinking about what other buildings downtown have ground floor spaces that can be converted to retail.
  17. Yea it's been amazing. I went to the concerts on friday then ventured over to the bars on main street and people were everywhere. Once all of the hotels are complete, new apartments, it will become the norm for a vibrate downtown. Larger conventions will come to town, more retail will follow. I. Can. Not. Wait!
