MainPlace should be turned around so that garden near the top is facing Main Street... just a thought.

Anyone buying into this is going to know there are going to be two towers... so I don't think people would buy into the southern tower "for the view" knowing it would one day soon be blocked. Build the first tower to the north and sell the view that will still be the view even when the second tower is built... and then build the second tower to people who want to buy for everything but the view of Downtown since they know ahead of time the view won't be there. This way, nobody is tricked or disappointed.

Will The Real Montrose Please Stand Up?
HtownWxBoy replied to dbigtex56's topic in General Houston Discussions
The heights is also becoming very big w/ the gay community.... not that it's much cheaper than Montrose... I just find most of the gay people I know living in the Heights as opposed to Montrose anymore, including myself and my bf. -
So I see both towers are now going to be condos as opposed to one being apartments for rent... that's cool. Going to look great seeing the second tower rise!

Totally agree... we need a mix of EVERYTHING Downtown. Apartments, Lofts, Office Buildings, Restaurants, Dance Clubs, Bars (all different types), Grocery Stores, Jazz Clubs, Retail Stores, Parks, Movie Theaters, Hotels, the Theater District.... and more more more!! -

Blah blah blah blah boo hoo boo hoo Sorry... I like dance clubs, quiet restaurants, wine bars, jazz clubs... lots of different places... I just never understood why some people get so bent out of shape over places like dance clubs. If you don't like going to them or are afraid to go to them then just don't go. I like going to dance clubs b/c they are a great place to meet people, socialize with tons of friends, listen to great music and DANCE!! -
Yea b/c if you are going northbound and you don't exit until Main Street Square you are going to pass right by HP and then have to backtrack.

Right... I just hate how people make it seem like Houston's weather sux all year 'round. I am home in Pennsylvania visiting family and I had one neighbor the other day ask me... "How can you live there when it's so hot all year 'round!?" Uuugh. I explained to them that it's beautiful most of the year and only hot for a few months in the summer... and even then it's only "bad" while the sun is up... in my opinion.
-
It's hot 4 months out of the year... most of the year it's very walkable.

Houston's weather is only unpleasant (hot and humid) for like 4 months or so out of the year... basically mid may through mid / late september... the other 8 months are generally nice... key word "generally". November, December, January, February, March, April... most of the time it's beautiful here!... yes it can get a little cold a few days during the winter, but if people can walk through Manhattan in the winter people can walk through Houston those very few day in the winter when it's really cold. I never understood why some people make it seem like Houston is hot and humid 12 months out of the year. Most of the year our weather is great!! I can see having the tunnels for people to just walk through when the weather is unpleasant (hot/humid, raining)... I just wish that the businesses stayed above ground.... have the tunnels be just hallways people can walk through without restaurants, businesses, etc. Just my opinion.

Yea, that's reason enough to not build a stadium. I have never been to a game, though I would like to go. Most people I know don't go to the games, though ENOUGH people do go to support the team. If we are going to have a team, we need a stadium.

We all want a dense, vibrant, pedestrian-filled Downtown... and one of the worst things you can do if you want that is keep people from the streets. The tunnels are obviously one of the main reasons, if not the main reason, Downtown almost always looks dead, even in the middle of a work day. Most of the people and a lot of the shops, restaurants, etc. are underground. Imagine if ALL of this was above ground every day... how different things would look. I realize it's nice to stay in the tunnels during our hot and humid summers... nobody likes to be all sweaty from just walking two blocks... but I just can't think of any other reason why tunnels should be Downtown. If it's raining, use an umbrella like they do in Seattle or New York City... if it's cold, wear a coat with gloves and a scarf like they do in Boston and Philly.
