  1. The restaurants are pretty good, too. The book store that was announced is almost the same thing as say, Barnes & Noble... and people would be a bit more excited if that one was coming... but we are getting something very very similar. I can understand Forever 21 being a bit of a letdown... but there are still more tentants to come. I was a bit bummed in the beginning as well when the new major tenants were announced... but I am totally psyched again... this project plus One Park Place plus Discover Green.... plus hopefully the other retail coming to Main Street like American Apparal... Downtown is going to change so much!!
  2. I don't know... when I hear "dress code"... I just think that they want people to actually put thought into what they are wearing... they don't just want people to roll off the couch and put on an oversized nascar tshirt and dirty jeans. People who do that can bowl at any of the wonderful bowling alleys scattered across rural Texas. I don't see "dress code" as people dressing the same... I see it as people actually "dressing". I personally see more diversity in the way people dress when I go to more upscale places with dress codes as opposed to the local rodeo where everyone has big belt buckles and cowboy hats on. Just my opinion of course.
  3. Any dress code people in Downtown or Midtown (or any urban area) follow is NOTHING like the dress code they follow in the suburbs! I think the point of the dress code at this bowling alley is to keep things looking more urban, and LESS suburban.
  4. Yea, my friends in Philly have been to the one up there and they said that while it is a bit expensive, it's well worth it. They said it's definitely not your typical bowling alley.
  5. $100 per hour seems a bit too high. According to a website I saw, the one in Las Vegas charges "$4.95 - $7.95 per game and from $55 - $75 per hour. Shoe rental is $3.95." The prices were a little lower for the Philidelphia location. I am sure Houston won't be this expensive either. I for one am really looking forward to bowling there... I think it will be a lot of fun and something different to do. Regular bowling alleys are fun to go to sometimes... but they are just so... well... they are just so bowling alleyish. he he
  6. Correct... Courtesy of WesternGulf from SkyscraperPage Forum... who said it's courtesy of Shasta. http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1...rnberry1pp8.jpg Looks like the building itself will actually be situated in a north/south way as opposed to east/west, like say The Mark is. I wasn't expecting that... but maybe they want a lot of people to have a Downtown view. It kind of reminds me of the Mark... shape-wise... still a much nicer building, though. This definitely won't block the amazing view of the Williams Tower when coming up 610 from the south.
  7. Oh yea... that's right. For some reason I was thinking it was directly south of the Williams Tower.. but that's where the Water Wall is. It won't really block the Williams Tower... I think it will actually look nice sitting right next to it.
  8. From KHOU.com.... Kicking around the idea of a new stadium for the Dynamo http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...m.265958f9.html
  9. I don't think HP is going to, itself, completely change Downtown... I just think it's going to be a big stepping stone. HP could help attract "some" people to live Downtown... and there is also the new Fingers building going up which will have street-level retail. All of this will hopefully attract more retail... and maybe stuff like a food market, dry cleaners, etc. This in turn will hopefully attract more people and more residential projects... and then more retail... and then more people and residential projects... and so on and so forth.
  10. woo hoo! It's going to be really exciting watching this project develop over the next year and a half.
  11. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet... I noticed on the Property Commerce website that they have added a Chili's and a Radio Shack to the development map.
  12. Really? If they were to pick Downtown Houston... THAT... WOULD... BE... AWSOME!!!
  13. I am looking forward to Lucky Strike Bowling... I think that will be a fun places to go to. I am really looking forward to being able to shop at HP, but I am waiting for more retail places to be announced... so far nothing has really excited me. I would like to see something along the lines of H&M, Gap, A&F, Banana Republic or Express Men... places like these.
  14. I'd like to see at LEAST 50 stories... anything smaller (30 to 40 stories) is nice, but it just doesn't stand out as much. I love how Philly (my former home) is building a new "tallest"... the Comcast Center. They don't even really need all of the office space... they are actually turning floors in one of their other tall office buildings (Liberty 1 or Liberty 2) into condos!
  15. Yea... according to the renderings, House of Blues will be on the eastern-most side... probably on the northeast corner.
  16. That would definitely make sense since it's going to be so close to the stadiums... particularly the Toyota Center. I am looking forward to hearing what other tenants will be coming to HP... and what other developments will be going up downtown. All along we kept hearing that to get people downtown you need retail... but to get retail you need people... one had to come first (chicken or the egg).... well, we got our chicken! ha ha
