  1. Houston's weather is only unpleasant (hot and humid) for like 4 months or so out of the year... basically mid may through mid / late september... the other 8 months are generally nice... key word "generally". November, December, January, February, March, April... most of the time it's beautiful here!... yes it can get a little cold a few days during the winter, but if people can walk through Manhattan in the winter people can walk through Houston those very few day in the winter when it's really cold. I never understood why some people make it seem like Houston is hot and humid 12 months out of the year. Most of the year our weather is great!! I can see having the tunnels for people to just walk through when the weather is unpleasant (hot/humid, raining)... I just wish that the businesses stayed above ground.... have the tunnels be just hallways people can walk through without restaurants, businesses, etc. Just my opinion.
  2. Yea, that's reason enough to not build a stadium. I have never been to a game, though I would like to go. Most people I know don't go to the games, though ENOUGH people do go to support the team. If we are going to have a team, we need a stadium.
  3. We all want a dense, vibrant, pedestrian-filled Downtown... and one of the worst things you can do if you want that is keep people from the streets. The tunnels are obviously one of the main reasons, if not the main reason, Downtown almost always looks dead, even in the middle of a work day. Most of the people and a lot of the shops, restaurants, etc. are underground. Imagine if ALL of this was above ground every day... how different things would look. I realize it's nice to stay in the tunnels during our hot and humid summers... nobody likes to be all sweaty from just walking two blocks... but I just can't think of any other reason why tunnels should be Downtown. If it's raining, use an umbrella like they do in Seattle or New York City... if it's cold, wear a coat with gloves and a scarf like they do in Boston and Philly.
  4. I highly doubt it will have a retractable roof... will probably just be a basic stadium... and that's totally fine w/ me as long as it's Downtown.
  5. I drove by yesterday and was very happy to see that, also.
  6. Yea I was under the impression a final decision would be made in July... it's going to be so great if they build it Downtown!
  7. They are really coming along on the southern/eastern most block, closest to the Toyota Center... I drove by today and they were working on the second floor of part of the building.
  8. No plans that I know of to connect to the tunnel system... and I hope they don't! We need less tunnels downtown... not more! Tunnels just take away from the street life. As for parking, they will be leasing a parking garage next to HP so people can park there... correct?
  9. Drove by this week and it looks like beams and stuff are starting to rise on one of the lots.
  10. Like I said, I love this tall, skinny building when looking at it from the front... and I just try and ignore what it looks like on the back.
  11. I actually love the building from the front side... but the back side is definitely not as nice. I wish they would at least build the second one so it's not just standing alone.
  12. I see they have updated their website... Additional tenants: -Antica Osteria -LUCHO BOUTIQUE -Unity National Bank -BCBG MAX AZRIA -Journeys Shoes -Old Havana
  13. I don't know, I just find it hard to believe that a developer would allow a parking garage to stick out like that... i guess only time will tell. If it does stick out a bit and you only see it from the freeway since the freeway is up high and it goes right next to it... maybe it won't be too bad.
  14. I am sure SOMETHING will cover up the parking garage... that would look really bad if you could see it sticking out... i can't see a developer being ok with that... especially when only a little more height is needed to cover it up. Just give it time, they will cover it up with something.
  15. Although I doubt I would shop there, I still think it would be a nice addition to HP and Downtown Houston.
  16. Ooo ... Panda Express should be good... I've never been there but have heard it's good.
  17. Well, if they want to keep building up Downtown, and hopefully they do, they will either have to build UP or OUT.... Hopefully more UP than OUT!
  18. It really is a great building. I wish it was downtown as opposed to on Allen Parkway... I also don't really like it's "curb appeal"... but it's still a great building!
  19. Yea, i hate having to drive all the way to the Galleria area to go to Sam's... not that I shop at Sam's a lot, but it would still be nice if there was a closer one.
