  1. I really like the green alot. I wish Sears would take a clue from this example and strip off their ugly siding.
  2. OMG! Is your house responsible for an incorrect skyline? Seriously, I don't think you have anything to worry about for quite some time. This project looks like an amateur fantasy. The other convention hotel in front of GRB seems to be more likely possible.
  3. ...and I guided the cab driver right through Minute Maid, on Texas, during the commencement of an Astros game. We worked that martini bag for one more at my pool prior to them going for late night viddles.
  4. Good times! Thanks Niche. Also, thanks to Bryan and Music for the lift home. I'm really liking that martini-gear-in-a-bag thing, Bryan. I hope we can have another tour prior to the space being leased. Nice to meet those that I'd not met before. Love the disco lights drinking glass, Mrs. Porch.
  5. It's going to echo like crazy in there. On another note, the Days Inn in the background has never looked better.
  6. I heard on the news this morning that the fire was strictly in the warehouse area. A firewall protected the "jewels" in the showroom. Ch 2 actually had Mack on the phone.
  7. Luv the cracklins! I got boiled peanuts in Opelousas.
  8. The gay parade is in late June, I think. But then again, it's at night, so I guess it's a little cooler. Growing up in the south, I can't say that I have too many memories of Mem. Day. Independence Day, however, is a whole other story.
  9. It's been working fine for me.
  10. I crossed the river at Natchez one time (coming back to Houston) and then took a levee road south to just north of Baton Rouge. Then, I hooked a right on 190 and went through Opelousas. It was a long time ago, but I remember some really cool, old homes north of Baton Rouge. Of course, then there's Natchez...
  11. That's good to hear, because every time I ride the train, I seem to be one of the few that pays. I curious, how did they scan your card?
  12. I met a friend for lunch and I took her to the Gulf Bldg. today too! It looks like the main entrance for Main Place will be on Rusk. Pretty impressive, multi-story lobby. I can't wait to see some of the glass go up.
  13. I happy to announce that my local convenience store (Pak's) has ranked #1 in Houston with the Houston Press. They really crank up the weird tunes, but I've never seen anybody bust out dancing, until now...
  14. Well, Swamplot is running an article, just today, regarding changes to street and rail configurations, because of the stadium. The Bastrop station appears to be right in front of the (proposed) stadium.
  15. I have no idea. Remember last week, I questioned you on me linking skyscraperpage to here for the Perennial topic. I don't know what my concern was based on, I was just unsure if it was ok. Maybe someone with better knowledge will pipe in.
  16. The first one looks like an architectural model. The second, like Pasadena. The third, the Swiss Alps (is that Mount Blanc?). The rest, like Tuscany. I'm going to take a wild guess and say Torino, Italy.
  17. Someone posted pics from up there very recently, not sure under what topic.
  18. That's it. The Brown Bag Deli is adjacent, so you can grab a sandwich and then grab an outside table. I did it just last week. Music, this city has so may generous endowments, etc. I'm sure we could manage to drum up some private contributors for Market Square. I mean really, it's the centerpiece of old Houston.
  19. I think that's a very logical explanation. I suspect we will see it start to rise at a faster pace now. Ooops, this is the DG thread, not MP.
  20. It needs tables under the trees. People use the pocket park at Capitol and Milam like crazy, especially for lunch. They also use the sitting area in front of Jones Hall. For some reason, Jones Plaza and Market Square are underutilized. I think providing a place for someone to eat their lunch would greatly increase its usage.
  21. He's gotten tons of negative publicity (especially on here ) in regard to his previous positions. Maybe he's decided to side with those he represents? Just a thought.
  22. Darn it. That's what I was just about to say, but knew it had already been guessed. Thanks for the fun game.
  23. Chase Tower (the tallest building in Texas) has one. Well's Fargo (the tall green one) has one. I'm not sure which lobby you're speaking of, but the Chase lobby in the old Gulf Building is opulent. It's grandness is like going back in time.
  24. Somewhere in Macedonia or at least eastern Europe?
