  1. The hood will be rockin' this weekend. There's a festival with closed streets during the day and then the Grand Parade at night. It looks like there are 87 parade entries. With the dry weather, it looks like mosquitos won't be too bad this year. http://www.pridehouston.org/events/index.php
  2. I noticed that it didn't cool down last night. What happened to our nice evening breezes? It was so still and sauna-esc.
  3. The signage is up and lit on the new HEB on Buffalo @ Westpark. I can't wait until they open. Does anybody know when the Grand Opening is? I'll bet it will be Sample-City. Anybody got opinions on the butterfly roof and the checkered rail-car siding? I can't make up my mind if I like the siding or not.
  4. What a crummy way to handle such a sensative issue (go room/stay room). I'm so glad you survived. In terms of numbers, how many 'heads' were affected here in Houston?
  5. Frank said that it was 101 yesterday. I know what you mean though. You can go to weather.com or accuweather.com and put in your zip and it'll say 93 - NOT!
  6. On that road, many people turn left at various intersections and you can get around them on the right when they're stopped. I think the road must widen at cross streets. I believe people realize that it's two lane and that the red car's intent is that (s)he'll be turning left ahead.
  7. It looks to me like it will be farther to the right. That new parking garage is in front of the Merdien. There's a section (triangle) shaped, where the 45N on ramp from Allen Pkwy is. It may cover the 8-sided, brown, Allen 3 or it may be between Enron and Allen 3 from a western perspective.
  8. Hopefully, we'll have a very silent Crunch for awhile because she'll be doing the work of three people. Good Luck!!
  9. It looks like Gene Locke is setting up his campaign office at the former Obama Houston Headquarters at Milam and Alabama. I say this because the windows are plastered with Gene Locke signs and the Obama references gone, with the exception of his big head painted on the brick on the side of the building.
  10. Jerome (CH2) just said that with these new reports being released, Houston is amongst the safest big cities in the country.
  11. Yes, because the new parking garage was recently built at Allen Pkwy across from the Meridian/Double Tree (whatever it is now). There is no other land available in that area.
  12. Well, they need to tear that !@# down. Not sure of the reason, but I'm sure legalities are a big part. Let's get moving on this. I went by Gallery Furniture on I-45N this weekend. At least the burned warehouse is behind the showroom and is not affecting the aesthetics of the scenic North Frwy.
  13. I've always assumed that it would be where the giant surface lot is between the Metropolitan Racket Club and the Texas Heritage Museum. I think that at about Dallas St. Do a maps.live aerial. That's the only land available in the Allen Ctr. area.
  14. When you say south, how far are we talking about? I can see many code violations. Thanks for the crazyazz pics.
  15. It was reported today that homocides were down significantly. Theft was up, but we can chalk that up to the economy, it's a national trend.
  16. Rocksci I'm not sure which burned building you are speaking of on I-45 S. There was a construction site down that way that was under construction recently. It caught on fire and people were killed. If it's that one, then it's probably due to investigations and insurance purposes. I do agree that the city needs to find a way to force the hand of those owning the Savoy(s), Days Inn/Holiday and Central Bank. Red may be able to enlighten us on the legal ramifications, though.
  17. Yeah, guess low on age or not at all. Duh.
  18. This Kroger was originally a Safeway and then later an Appletree. I shopped there when I lived over that way in the 80's when it was fairly new. I think the Rice Epicurean on Holcombe/Bellaire was once those stores also. I agree about the Fiesta @ Reliant. You can't beat the fish market. The produce isn't great, but it's dirt cheap.
  19. Do you think the Consulate on Fountain View could provide her with guidance? http://www.embavenez-us.org/index.php?pagi...ular%20Services
  20. That's an interesting thought (Memorial vs. Hermann attendance). I guess the count would depend on if you're counting joggers, being that Hermann is not a runner's park; that'd be Rice U. Hermann has the zoo, nearby museums, Rice, two train stations and Miller Outdoor. Both have golf courses.
  21. I think this happened in Denver. NO THANKS! http://www.guzer.com/videos/window_cleaning_accident.php
