  1. Isn't an increase in floorage going on over at MD Anderson right now. I can't remember the name of the building, but guess that it's about 10 years old and they are presently adding more floors.
  2. The opposite of the majority of chron.com posters.
  3. All good in different ways. Luckily I'm "In the Zone" for delivery by all three.
  4. El Rey at Main and Congress is good and cheap Mex/Cuban. Les Givral Kahve (Vietnamese) at 801 Congress is good and cheap too. I'm munching down on a $3.00 sandwich from there, right now. Both the Longhorn and Market Square Grill have small patios.
  5. True, but demand has been there for a while now. I remember voting for this many years back. Originally, the tolls were to go away once the roads were paid for. I guess if they continue constructing, that justifies continuing to charge. I just wish they wouldn't wait until the roads are over congested prior to starting expansion projects.
  6. I agree that the south belt needs another lane (or two) especially between 288 and 59. Also, why the heck did they not put in an interchange at 288?
  7. Another thing with the lower humidity is that when the sun goes down, it seems to be cooler outside, especially if there is a slight breeze.
  8. With power as expensive as it is, who's not already conserving? I turn the thermo up during the day, but I'm not going to keep it so hot while I'm there that I shrivel up and die. I got my power bill yesterday that covered the entire month of June. I was surprised (and pleased) that it only went up $11 from the previous month. I double-checked to make sure that it was an actual reading, and it was. Maybe it had something to do with the humidity being relatively low during the June heatwave. Urgh, I just checked the temp and it's 99. Here we go again.
  9. How so? Montrose has locations for all of the top 3 in the poll.
  10. I voted for other and did not have a write-in option. My intention was to vote for Pink's.
  11. Isn't that the Dos Equis man? Congrats Red!
  12. From what I read/heard (don't remember where) TXDOT dropped the ball. The installers of the trees were under contract for irrigation. When the contract ran out and was not renewed, they stopped watering. Duh. They are going to try and replace them with TXDOT funds and private donations. This incompetence really pisses me off. Mad Face (I can't get Emoticons to work)
  13. Street View on Google maps looks quite different at Lazy Hollow and Westheimer. Same bent Lazy Hollow street sign though. Not altered, my buttox.
  14. Swamplot says that Lake/Flato Architects of San Antonio are doing "Buffalo Market". I did not see this project on their website though. Apparently, it's going to be ooh la la. 50% of the store will be perishable items and it will be like the Central Market hybrid in The Woodlands, only more updated and eco friendly.
  15. Montrose Blvd could really use some help between the bridge and the fountain. Also, I think Bagby is in far worse shape than Bissonnet was. It's good to see them at least paving something again. Holcombe turned out pretty good.
  16. I thought is was Romano's New York Pizzaria. At least that's what it said on the box when we ordered from there last week. The pizza was marginal at best, but I did not make the toppings decision. The thin crust pizza was soggy in the middle and the sun dried toms packed a twang. Nobody's mentioned Fuzzy's or Frank's or Farago.
  17. Carlos Cruz-Diez has been commissioned to paint the street crossings in the Museum District. Pretty cool looking, I think. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/20...y_cruz-diez.php http://www.mfah.org/exhibition.asp?par1=1&...amp;currentPage=
  18. There's an MJ dance off at Discovery Green tomorrow. http://www.houstononthecheap.com/michael-jackson-tribute-dance-party-july-2-at-discovery-green
  19. I don't think that's St. Paul's in the first photo. I do agree that it's somewhere in England. Other cities in England have Eyes too.
  20. PYT-Bry - what a talent! Heee Heee (That's not laughter) lockmat, there is a British interview with MJ. He was terrified of his dad all his life. He used to "tear us boys up when we made a mis-step". I think the media distorted many things. I also think that the fear of his father since childhood may be a better explanation for the 'hall monitors'. At any rate, I think he was exploited by the media and greed-mongers. I'm just sayin'. RIP, MJ.
  21. I think, with Kathy Whitmire, there was always speculation that she was gay. She supported the gay community and dressed like Dustin Hoffman in drag, as Tootsie (or Dustin dressed like her). There was also the close relationship she had with Clintine Cashion, who died of an asthma attack. What's wrong with a girl having a good GF?
  22. All the more reason to have more big HEB's inside the loop or even a smaller one downtown. The Kroger across BFSwy is already packed, as are all three Randall's and all other stores in the area. Even Costco is near. The area is so dense in population that we need some competition for pricing purposes. I shop at various places, depending on what the pricing is on the weekly fliers of what I need/want.
