  1. I totally agree. Why is every other north-south street of Midtown in good condition, except Bagby? Also, fix or replace that light at McGowan/Bagby. It's always getting out of synch, long cycling, stuck or blinking. This is largely a residential street now. Don't they deserve better? I noticed they were grinding down Bissonnet, near Ashby, prepping for new black top. This street was nowhere near the shape of Bagby. Do we have a double standard here?
  2. What's lemon balm? That sounds like a cocktail. Are you drinking the condensation as well? My primary goes right down the drain. I guess you could stop up the primary and collect from the secondary drain.
  3. I know you're kidding, Dad. The time I shopped at WM in Pearland, this woman had about 6 screaming kids with her and no matter how I tried to reroute, they always ended up right near me. Sure enough, I get to the register and they pull up right behind me. Then, the cashier was this strange religious woman with a bun in her hair. I could not wait to get back to the COH. When I worked down there, I no problem during the day going to pick up items, as the rugrats were out being edgumacated (we hope).
  4. Ooh, ooh, where does one buy dry ice? That would be a really cool party effect. (affect?)
  5. WxBoy - the pool at my plex is already becoming luke warm. We were just joking earlier about everybody getting bags of ice to throw in. I must say though, that the evenings have been nice with the low humidity and nice breeze. I did notice the humidities seemed to creep up today. (From a previous conversation on humidity levels vs. humidities, etc. Spell check don't like it! )
  6. Well, I didn't say that I wanted you to open the floodgates. Still, I would have never guessed, and I work for a Canadian company. I guess we could consider this the secret jewel of the North American Continent. Thanks!
  7. I prefer to shop at Big Lots over a suburban Walmart. Now, how uppity does that sound? I grocery shopped at the (white) Pearland Walmart one time and one time only. Get me out of here! I'm not sure what it is about Target, but the one on South Main is highly mixed with black, brown and white, but everyone seems to be more civilized. I had a flash on what the makeup of a Midtown Target would be like. Hmmm. Seedy bars are completely different, because you generally go well after dark thirty.
  8. Where on Main is this Hernandez Tunnel? My curiousity has peaked, I've never heard of it before. What does it go under?
  9. I was going to put Paris out there too. The Seine is not that wide though (to my recollection). Your trickle of clue(s) is running a little too slow for me.
  10. My brother and I used to get shipped via Continental Trailways bus to my grandparent's in the summertime - never a problem. I remember that it was fun as child, trying to 'aim' in the b-room at the back of bus. Not been on such a bus in years and judging from the clientele at the Midtown station, I'd have to not recommend it (for the kids). I have a friend who works for CO and I believe they truly are concerned with these events, even if they're on the commuter, non-commercial runs.
  11. Which color of the rainbow are you becoming? I just went out by the pool and it's soooo nice with the sun going down and all. WxBoy, is there an explanation as to why the OZ is low and air quality good? Also, the pollens are moderate. WTF is messing with my sinuses?
  12. I saw an ad in a local mag. recently and decided I had to have it. I won't be able to make it to the signing, as I have Pride events that day. Thanks for the reminder and I'll seek other means to obtain a copy. Is there a hard back (coffee table version) available?
  13. Water balloons. They're silent and they'll never know what hit them.
  14. Yes, call them and give them the address, make and model of the cars. They'll come out and file a report. You may be helping to solve two stolen cars. Remember amnesia girl? That's how they found out who she was when someone reported that her car had not been moved (for a certain number of days/weeks).
  15. I guess it's not so crazy to like lower humidity. The mornings and evenings have been pretty nice while that blazing sun is down. It's still getting down in the 70's at night. I hate when you wake up and it's in the 80's with about 90% humidity - but... we have that coming. Yuck! I'm also really surprised that the air quality is in the good range. I thought hot weather like this caused increased ozone.
  16. How many days has it been that we've had temps in the upper 90's? Also, I can't remember our last rain and none is in the forecast for the foreseeable future. How far behind are we on rainfall? I guess the saving grace is that the humidity has been running on the lower end at 40% +/-. Anybody remember the summer of '79 or 80 when it was so hot that the roads started buckling?
  17. Did she limp or rock or blurt out words for her disguise? I'm sorry, that's mean.
  18. Something brewing at the dome. Ch2 reports that Harris County Organizers is secretly planning a Science Center and Planetarium for the facility. It's apparently hush-hush, because Ch2 was denied access for the meeting. Science, Technology and Mathematics Institute was the name they used.
  19. Awareness of our issues and campaigns, public service announcements to stop bad habits (litter, etc.). Houston Proud of the 80's was lame, but basically a public awareness program, if properly executed, could get more people involved. ...and to ban negative posts of our fair city on HAIF.
  20. Not sure, but I think that 51 & 26 are on the same antenna and it will not be fully operational until August. ...like they didn't have time to plan for this... I think they're working, but on limited signal strength until August.
  21. This study is about metro areas, not city limits. Either way, there is tons of undeveloped land in either/both. I don't think land restriction is an issue.

    Audi vs Lexus

I'm going to agree completely with EMME, even though I own neither. That's just my experience with conversations with owners over the years. As far as good customer service goes, it should be part of the deal for either car. If someone is rated poorly and you sense a lack of interest, go elsewhere. Hey, but I've got a 4 year old Chevy that I've never had to put in the shop, other than an oil change at 'Mister' on Kirby with a free car wash.
  23. Oh, I'm guessing that provides more even illumination, rather than the glare of a bare bulb.
  24. This thing is about to overtake 5 Houston Center in height - exciting.
