  1. We're having a PANDEMIC! meeting at 3:00. We've already been warned about non-essential travel to Mex. I'll report back with the results of my meeting.
  2. I've seen four Black Hawks flying around town today. I've seen them three different times today. Anybody know what they're doing? Oh, and all three occasions, they're flying just to the north of downtown, going both east and west.
  3. You can make left turns, just not at the traffic signals.
  4. wernicke speaks of the Cambridge bridge over Brays Bayou.
  5. I remember looking this up recently. If I remember correctly, it's the same street that runs alongside the "Pru", but on the other side of the bayou. Edit: Nope. I was thinking Bertner, but Bertner changes to Cecil South of Braeswood. It looks like it will be east of Selma, between Ave. G, where that parking lot is (was).
  6. I go by there every day and it just seems like the sign is new. Oh well, eventually something will be developed there. It's really quite shocking to reflect back at where we were last year (regarding the economy) and how everything has changed so drastically.
  7. Man, I forgot what topic I was in. Maybe this should be renamed Atlanta Olympics.
  8. I can't find the correct thread, but this is in the general vicinity. The Farb property at Bagby and McGowan is for sale. I noticed it for the first time today. This is the property with a cellular antenna in the middle, where they were going to build an apt complex around it. I guess they decided not to develop it at this time.
  9. The roof on Cafe Adiago at Market Square looks like a swimming pool. The drains must be clogged.
  10. The large warehouse has been demolished and cleared. The slab still remains and is huge. I estimate that the slab of that old warehouse to be about 5 acres. Other than that, I don't see any activity.
  11. Yikes! You must take photos prior to your grooming. I was speaking with a neighbor yesterday evening. He goes to a Barber Shop on Richmond, in a strip center. I'm guessing it's about the 1400 or 1500 block. He doesn't have much hair like you, but they do trim his beard.
  12. It looks like they completed another floor today. Anybody know what floor they're up to now? They are moving really fast. Look at the picture taken on the 20th. That floor appears to be completed just this afternoon (from my vantage point). Duh, I just counted floors from the photo. 18 complete, going on 19. 13 more floors, plus the turbines - sweet. I calculate that it'll be about 10ft shorter than OPP.
  13. That's what I remember. I guess it's somewhat near Chuys (farther west) and a block or two north of Westheimer. I remember finding the house after seeing the movie. I remember the movie crews were also at the Waldo Mansion at Westmoreland @ Garrott. From what I remember, the kitchen scenes were filmed in it.
  14. Okay, we've gone full circle here. Spring, Kingwood or The Woodlands sound right up your alley. I believe Kingwood/Humble is closer to IAH, though. There's also another area called Ravensway near 290 and Beltway 8. It's an older, established and well-maintained neighborhood, also an easy commute to the airport. Edit: When I said older, I meant by Houston standards. I'm guessing Ravensway was established in the 70's. Lots of 3 & 4 bedroom homes and is heavily wooded.
  15. I guess we shouldn't schedule a HAIF happy hour anytime soon. That could blow your progress.
  16. You're such a hard-liner. It's not litter if it keeps someone in a job; it's only temporary storage.
  17. You are incorrect! Saturday was a complete washout, big time. Sunday, however, was bee-U-tiful.
  18. Did it have to be a diet coke can? That is the method I always use at the beach, but it is generally a beer can. How is your not smoking going? I ordered two of those ashtrays from Sevfiv's post, one for the car and one for the stoop. I vow to never micro litter again except for areas maintained by sweepers.
  19. To put another spin on it, commuting from in-town to IAH is going against traffic, so that commute would be smooth. I'll bet the Hardy Tollway, northbound has hardy any traffic in the morning. I totally agree with leasing something first and finding where you fit best. If you've got movers, they could alway hold on the big items until you find a perm place.
  20. I must have one, I'll order it right now. Is it still okay to ash out of the window? I want to do my part. Chip bags don't stink when you bring them back to your desk garbage can, butts do. I wish I could kick the habit.
  21. I think they always planned to subsidize a new convention center hotel, but that's not this one. That project is on hold until banking stabilizes. I think it's interesting that we just voted for subsidizing private convention hotel development last October and Dallas is to vote on banning it.
  22. I think this whole thing would not have blown up into such a big thing if they just didn't use the word Marriage. The term Civil Union is easier on the ears of the righties. Gay couples now proclaim themselves as married, even though not officially. If they were able to say "We're in a Civil Union". Now that's what I'm takin' about.
