  1. There appear to be two of them in the area now. One is on Hwy 6 just north of the Westpark Tollway and the other is in New Caney along 59, just southwest of the intersection with FM 1484. Another is planned for the Grand Parkway and Peek Road, between the Morton Ranch and Clay Road exits on the southbound side. https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Search/Project/TABS2024002720 https://communityimpact.com/houston/katy-south-fulshear/dining/2023/10/20/popular-hot-dog-chain-coming-soon-to-katy/
  2. https://www.beaumontenterprise.com/business/article/beaumont-downtown-plan-draft-includes-crockett-18382502.php "Those potential improvements include a new city hall, Civic Center parking deck with 200 spaces, a bandstand/river theatre, Neches pedestrian bridge and a riverwalk parking deck, also with 200 spaces. Other projects include a riverwalk/waterway, hotel and convention center upgrades and two projects associated with private developers." The canal idea appears to be back - this time on Crockett Street. It would follow the street from the expanded Riverfront Park (or, Beaumont Green, as the document appears to call it) to the Event Centre. More from a proposal from SWA that was presented last month.

The investigation led by the administration asserts the Office of Defects Investigation received reports of incidents involving the autonomous vehicles that “may not have exercised appropriate caution around pedestrians in the roadway.” Nearly 600 of the driverless vehicles are subjects in the preliminary investigation that could result in a recall by the administration. The company this year tested its vehicles in several Houston neighborhoods and fully launched the driverless ride-hailing service last Thursday despite some backlash from Houston residents about a traffic jam caused by some of those vehicles on a busy Montrose roadway weeks ago."

The decision comes just months after employees moved into the upper floors of its namesake tower. The job search engine moved into the top 10 floors of Indeed Tower in August — which it is now calling its co-headquarters — five years after signing a lease. But now, the company is advertising three floors for sublease, according to a property brochure. The move comes at a time when Austin has more space on the sublease market than ever before, and office landlords are struggling to fill towers — both new and old. One contributing factor is that many employers are struggling to figure out how to best use office space in the wake of the pandemic as more roles become hybrid or entirely remote."

A few storm seasons between now and 2025 could easily push back the timeline, as is often the case with island construction, Neighbors said."

The court will now name a new dependent administrator, who will be responsible for preserving the hotel during its sale. The administrator will also play a key role in evaluating the two preservation offers being finalized. Ms. Ann Findley Jones is the sister of the owner of the Luther Hotel. In this change of leadership, the judge appointed a new dependent administrator, meaning these decisions will be made jointly as a team, with the Palacios Preservation Association being pleased with this decision." ... https://www.expressnews.com/news/texas/article/luther-hotel-survives-demolition-threat-18382755.php "Margaret Doughty, co-chair of the preservation association, said the foundation terminated its contract and Findley’s heirs have said they favor preserving the hotel. Lawyers from the conservation group and the family have been in discussion with two potential buyers, including Houston businessman Nick Herman, who wants to repair and restore the structure. “The assumption at the moment is that the offers that are being formulated are for preservation,” Doughty said. “We’re working with anybody who is interested in helping with funding for the actual restoration."

The new region marks the company’s first entrance into the Texas market. Croker will be based in Houston and is responsible for real estate acquisitions, new developments and operations in Texas and Arizona." Fun Fact: He's been a HAIFer, at least in the past! He was super helpful with some info I and others had asked about 811 Main and a few other projects before and during the time of their construction. Wish him nothing but the best for this position.

The president and CEO of the nonprofit Blackwood Educational Land Institute wasn’t at the wrong building, even though it housed everything from restaurant pop-ups and coworking spaces. Instead, she was headed to bring fresh crops from her Hempstead farm to one of [the] biggest urban rooftop farms in Texas, Blackwood’s Skyfarm. Located at POST Houston, the farm laboratory, as they call it, experiments with different regenerative agricultural techniques such as permaculture in a distinctive urban rooftop soil setting. The nonprofit also hosts various educational experiences for guests, volunteers and anyone who is interested in becoming what it calls eco-literate."
  16. Will see how long this takes to get to other places, but this was a new find. The PDF brochure must've been updated in the last day or few. There is this new rendering along Commercial Drive back toward the Cinemark theater which envisions the redeveloped space with additional parcels activated with retail. There's also an appearance of the complex that Sueba had previously teased adjacent. Other than getting the spelling of the placeline wrong, this is good news. This location was purpose-built as a freestanding 24 hour ER / Medical location (First Choice ER), but had been closed even prior to the pandemic from what I remember. At least it will be in use again. https://realtynewsreport.com/rnr-real-estate-briefs-texas-more-21/ "ROSENBURG, Texas – RapidCare Emergency Room has leased from NewQuest Properties a 7,032 SF medical office building in Brazos Town Center at US Highway 59 and FM 762. Bob Conwell and Austen Baldridge of NewQuest Properties represented the landlord. Gloria Ilochonwu of Keller Williams Real Estate represented the tenant."

That is less than half of the $70M Pacific Life Insurance loaned to Treeview Real Estate Advisors to purchase the building in February 2020, and it is barely a third of the $86M at which the Harris Central Appraisal District valued the building in January."

Later, the developer plans to extend West Boulevard southward to eventually connect with the future Grand Parkway section there. StoryBuilt Homes — formerly known as PSW Real Estate — this summer shut down operations, laid off employees and sought voluntary receivership. The more than 30-year-old builder has completed housing projects in Oak Cliff, Dallas and Plano. The receivership means StoryBuilt’s building sites, completed projects and partially-built developments with an estimated value of $2 billion are being marketed for sale by A&G Real Estate Partners and Onyx Asset Advisors. One of the more than two dozen properties up for grabs is a 12-acre site at Fort Worth Avenue and Commerce Street, west of downtown Dallas."
