  9. Definitely saw this one was underway when I was there last week, though I didn't see a sign that mentioned the restaurant specifically.
  10. It's probably time to do a post-mortem on the "JCI Grill" experiment. JCI Grill president on restaurant closures, Houston suburban expansion (houstonchronicle.com) This article from last year kind of brings home everything that's happened since this thread started. That article makes repeated references to JCI Grill as well, but I saw something different on my most recent visit. My family went to the location at Meyerland around the lunch rush on Christmas Eve and business was brisk both in the drive-thru and in the restaurant. There were several families there having lunch and exchanging gifts along with smaller parties. It wasn't completely packed, but business was certainly steady. The folks at the counter were on top of their game and management was actively working back in the kitchen to keep the momentum going. They gave us "Coney Caps" for everyone to have during the meal since they saw I had kids. I had to get my standard Walker Street / Houstonian / whatever it's called now and tamales with chili cheese with Coney Delaware Punch. The taste was still there for just about everything. I lingered. The fact that I have two girls 5 and younger also helped, but I saw others doing the same and taking their time there. I was also happy to notice something that was not super present: that JCI Grill branding. Only saw a couple of mentions immediately at the front door but everything else had appeared to have reverted back to "James Coney Island". The Coney Caps were even older in terms of design and had the pre JCI Grill logo on it which was a nice touch. If the experience I had at Meyerland is what's taking place at their remaining locations, then they'll be fine. If they can expand with the smaller-sized concept that they'd been hinting at into the suburbs and take that quality with them - they'll be even better off.

  13. From last week, drive by photo of the MOB when I was getting back onto the Grand Parkway
  14. Drove around there about a week ago to see the progress. The first round of streets are being completed and there are a number of homes along them in various states of completion. The photos are of the entrance area on Doris Road, a fair amount of cattle still grazing around the model home community, the sign at the exit back onto the feeder and then the back of the very large landmark sign along the northbound feeder marking the site as Emberly Texas.
  15. Was just there a few days ago. That site is cleared and being excavated. The other area being cleared is the one on the map that's highlighted in orange that looked to be targeted for use by a grocer.

  24. The number of floors does not automatically mean there will be a greater height of course. So, in terms of stories - no. In terms of actual height - yes. Here are some of the 500'+ towers I can think of completed in the past dozen or so years. 609 Texas (2017) - 755' Texas Tower (2022)- 735' 811 Main (2011) - 630' Bank of America Tower (2019) - 579' (This seems to be the figure everyone including the CTBUH uses, though I'm personally unsure). Brava (2022) - 549' Memorial Hermann Tower (2009) - 542' Perhaps most importantly, the larger office towers here don't actually seem to sit without substantial leasing for too long. That's not the case elsewhere.
  25. Website has been created: Emberly (emberlytexas.com) Google Maps has updated some of the street info. This looks to be maybe a third of the current master plan.
