  1. not if you want seats. the san jose field is 70 yards wide, which is the mimimum to meet FIFA regs according to there site (i thought it was 75 yards). the "superblock' is between main and travis right?
  2. ^ i don't think there is a signal at Cullen and McHard, so i doubt it connects. There is a light at Hughes Ranch so maybe that goes through, never gone that way though. i wish there were free entrances/exits around the beltway and 288 like there are at all the other freeway interchanges.
  3. I commute from cullen and 8 to clear lake quite often. there's only one toll for me so i often take the beltway, but it really only saves me 10 minutes. there are so few lights on the feeder, and you can jump on at beamer for free and connect to 45 directly. a direct ramp from 288 to beltway would be really nice. i never use that intersection, i take cullen north to almeda to get to 288.
  4. i just learned that they have an area in San Fran called SOMA, south of Market Street. Visiting now, quite a city.
  5. is he still commentating? after he stopped coaching the dolphins, he has stayed close to the game. i'm sure it wouldn't take much for him to get right back in there.
  6. didn't the city approve the TIRZ for this? the balls in the developer's court now.
  7. i still see the sign for it where it ends at the beltway 8 feeder, just east of 288. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=29.602864,-...,0.019121&hl=en sorry if this is a duplicate thread, didn't see the other one.
  8. none of my OU friends mind going to the Red River Shootout. they're actually slightly closer to dallas then austin, and leaving their state becomes irrelavant once half the cotton bowl turns red. and unfortunately for the last few years they've enjoyed it more then the longhorns, but hopefully that will change this year. it is often called the best rivalry in college football.
  9. i completely agree. not just at the same table, but at the same venue. when we went bar-hopping, every place we went was either all white or all black, very little mix. but overall i like the city, i have some friends at Tech so i make it over every once and a while.
  10. there are four in austin now, just went to lake creek last weekend. looks like there's going to be one on south mason road in katy coming soon. so they are expanding in houston, i agree downtown would be a great place for one. maybe we can email the drafhouse and the pavilions and introduce them to each other.
  11. greezed lightnin' was my favorite ride there, i love how when it was empty some operators would let you just stay on and ride over and over again-
  12. it may be an eyesore, and poorly maintained, but i for one will miss it...
  13. not sure if this has been posted, but what's the latest status on this? last i remember the developer's presented their plan to city council, waiting for a go and hoping for incentives. has the city responded?
  14. ^ the national guard? MPs? too bad they have to take these people away from the work they are currently doing, helping people.
  15. well if they are actually caught looting (items not of necessity), and they have to get them out of the city, maybe ship them to huntsville where they belong.
  16. i heard something about needing an evacuee ID to go to the comets game for free. so i'm assuming that they will be free to come and go as they please from the dome, which would be good.
  17. i'm sure the water would be pumped out, but seems like there will other repairs that may not be so easy. with parts of the "membrane" torn off, the dome now takes in water, and other parts of the infrastructure may be damaged. hopefully this isn't the case, and also hopefully people will be able to go back to their homes by then. i just like the idea of Houston, so there's more of a chance for local fans to enjoy their team. plus its good for us of course. san antonio would be interesting also (I guess they went there to practice during Ivan last season), since there's no team there and there were rumours of luring the Saints there.
  18. i have a temporary idea for the astrodome, why don't we offer it to the city of New Orleans as a place for the Saints to play for now? I'm sure they'll get plenty of fans, especially Houstonians for the first few home games that just want to see a game in the Dome again. And if there are parking issues with two home games the same day, the NFL could move one to the evening to accommodate. The Saints don't really have many options left, maybe LSU Stadium? Don't know if that suffered any damage...
  19. only thing i find really good at johnny rockets are the shakes. and yes, i went to the one at Katy a while back, and i've been to one in LA.
  20. i would stay there if someone bet me $438.75 that i wouldn't stay there.
  21. i always park for free as well. but many don't want to park in the street for safety reasons, and yes most are too lazy to search and have to walk.
  22. i go to denver a few times a year, and this area has been busier everytime i go. the layout is nice, and works well for downtown denver. i think it'll be very good for downtown, and take us in the right direction. hopefully we'll get some good retail, restaurants and bars.
  23. I got this email from Opus, just wondering if anyone else had heard about this: Introducing the Downtown Entertainment District Validated Parking Program available every Friday & Saturday night! The Downtown Entertainment District is pleased to announce our new Validated Parking Program. The program, which begins Friday, August 5, 2005 and will continue every Friday and Saturday, was created in response to your concerns about difficulty in finding safe, affordable parking around the area. 24. the CL location does have a brewery, and it looks like they'll be supplying any non-brew BJs around. "BJ's is unlike other brewery-restaurant operators because only about one in four of the chain's locations has a brewery on site. The breweries produce enough beer to ship to holding tanks at the nonbrewery units, which helps keep capital costs down, ensures that breweries operate at capacity and improves consistency." http://www.lumiverse.com/p/articles/mi_m31...39/ai_n13649009
  25. i love MMP. i've been to 9 major league parks around the nation, and its one of my favorites. great atmosphere, you feel like you're in the game no matter where you're sitting. unlike some of those giant stadiums out there. they have random small concerts on a stage after games. i believe collective soul was there earlier this season. but there's no need for actual concerts there, its a ballpark, that what it was built for, and it serves its purpose.
