  1. The app is definitely nice and handy, but for planning when you're at home you can find all the info on their site. Here is a map of the stages: http://fpsf.com/go.php#general_info As mentioned, in years past all the main stages were low on the Bayou facing south. They are also set up so the sound is pretty directional, since there are so many stages you want to be able to separate the sound. I don't think you would be able to distinguish much from the skate park, maybe you could hear the Mercury stage but I'm guess its facing south. Another option may be the Allen parkway service road on the south side, like by the Fed Reserve. But not sure sound will carry all the way there either. You may want to scout things out this evening before they close everything out. Then you can get an idea of where the stages are and which way they face. I'm not Fancy, but i guess more middle class. Got the GA blind pre-sale. This is my 4th year, its a no brainer for me cause i love live music and know I'll get my $60 worth as long as there are a few bands I want to see (and this year there are 7 i would pay to see) and i can walk there which makes it easy to go home and refresh and cool off. Here is the schedule: http://fpsf.com/learn.php#!programmation=grid$ I am guessing the Mars, Neptune, and Saturn stages are the big ones looking at the lineup. How has no one mentioned Pall Wall? Show some Houston love! (ok he's not on my must see list but I'll probably check him out)
  2. Could they be catering to folks that drive/bus in to downtown and want to run errands, grab lunch, etc? I figured anyone that lives in the area that is inclined to bike will have their own. Tourists couldn't sustain this, I just don't see it. I've borrowed bikes in a few cities, the rates I remember were lower than this if you wanted it just for a few hours (no membership required).
  3. Is this definitely a go? Sudden Impact is still working on plenty of vehicles in their garage daily, I'm assuming they are moving to a lower price piece of land since they seem to be doing ok.
  4. they must have been claiming that number with Star Alliance as a whole. From airchina.com:
  5. I didn't see this any where: http://www.29-95.com/restaurants/story/chef-kevin-bryant-head-new-seafood-restaurant-montrose-neighborhood New seafood-centric, high end place coming to the old Biba's location at 607 W Gray.
  6. Looks like some work is being done on the new Art Annex building, just clearing things out. First activity I've seen since the school opened.
  7. They said they would be putting together a printed drink menu with options soon.
  8. Checked this place out last weekend. Decent crowd on Friday night, good drinks. Kept the historic building in tact, straightforward simple tables and a bar. 4 different charities you can vote for when you buy a drink. We'll see if they are public about how much, if any, they donate at the end of the month (I would think there is a high chance they wouldn't be profitable the first month).
  9. they are hoping to be open early spring 2013
  10. If that's what did it, that's really sad. There is plenty of parking on side streets a few blocks away. Every time I've been on the weekdays they have had a good crowd (small but the place is small). Its never empty. This was good quality unique food, sad to see it go...
  11. I got a letter inviting me to an 'open house' on Thursday evening. It didn't say much, just a sneak peak. I assume it'll look like a Krogers.
  12. ah ok thanks. I didn't realize it would be going across the Bayou but makes sense. thanks
  13. rode by today along the north side of buffalo bayou, the construction i was referring to is between Capitol and Rusk. snapped some pics: The last pic is looking up from the north bank (facing NW), you can see the edge of the Capitol bridge on the top right. Is this going to be a vehicle bridge? Doesn't make any sense...
  14. honestly it almost looked like they were building a dam. I have no idea what it was, but it is at the water level, not like the bike/ped bridge just south. and it appeared to be a pretty big project. agree on the UH Downtown area. Or at the least i hope they build a good way to even get to the north side of the trail. Right now i cut over to Travis and go on the sidewalk (since its one way the wrong way). Even when Main is done that's not a great way on a bike.
  15. Many of the trails are repaved, its looking good and being utilized heavily. I saw some construction on the bayou by downtown, not sure if its part of the Master Plan (they don't show anything east of the Sabine Street bridge in an renderings I've seen). It appears they are building some sort of bridge or structure at bayou level, very close to where Capitol/Rusk/45 goes over the bayou. I didn't have my phone on me but next time I'll take a pic. Anyone know what's going on over there?
  16. We found a hairline crack in our tub, new build so it was under warranty. Builder had the installer come out and resurface it. They were easy to work with and professional, not sure on price or longevity though but it looks good. Aqua Surface Incorporated (713) 974-5300
  17. They have unique items, and their own line. Worth checking out when things calm down. People from the NE and Cali I'm sure are excited because it was a staple for them back home. If I moved to Cali and they decided to open a huge Spec's I would be there opening day. I actually did hear a girl on her cell saying "I just checked out at Trader Joe's, it feels like I'm back home". Anyways, here are the pics:
  18. I swung buy after having lunch with a friend near the Village. Only because I was on my bike and it was on my way home. Around 1pm it was a madhouse as expected, I only saw the small strip lot up front which was constantly full with people grabbing spots as people pulled out. I got the last spot on the bike rack and just poked my head in for 5 minutes. The isles were full but people were courteous, and the store was prepared. There were a ton of employees restocking, helping people out, and handing out samples. The fake movie posters were up along with some other signage. I snapped some pics on my phone which I'll upload later. The checkout line was really long, but every register was manned and it was constantly moving, albeit slowly. I'll go back later to grab my truffles, didn't have time to see how long that line would take.
  19. took off at 7am this morning, looped over JSC one last time and headed north. heard it banked west around downtown. farewell Endeavour...
  20. I'm 30 and like the format. I don't like all the stories, but I can handle more of them then the local news on the other stations. Its still quite low, probably pay attention to a quarter of it when its on, but that's a lot more than I can normally take. The Day in Pictures segment is always good - unique things like that get me to tune in on occasion. Otherwise I can just get any news/sports/weather i want online, and I can pick and chose.
  21. I actually worked there in high school. Dream job, got to skate around all day, it was great. The Oshman's family is from Houston, Marylin Oshman was CEO through the 90's and when they sold out to Gart Sports I believe. So now its Gart out west and Sports Authority here and the midwest. I feel like Oshman's used to be a little higher end for skates and skis and bikes, but Sports Authority doesn't carry as good of stuff. Now I just prefer Academy for every day things or higher end specialty stores when I need something unique.
