  1. So what you're saying is that amongst all the new developments going on within and near downtown, particularly on the redline (609 main, sky house, alliance, super block, broadstone, mid main, etc), it's this one canceled project that is cause for concern?
  2. definitely do not want to see the facade of three allen redone - i think that building looks absolutely fine as is. i agree with subdude that the discontinuity in designs is part of the charm. that said these buildings aren't built to act as large, static art pieces - they are built as investment vehicles for their owners and redesigning/renovating is often necessary for them to remain competitive in the market.
  3. I've seen some of the longterm master plan for the menial and it is expansive.
  4. my apologies - some of the comments on this board have irked me a lot lately. i feel like mister x or something
  5. good eye. it's like they just decided to add it next to downtown.
  6. pretty sure you're confusing med center with greenway plaza, lockmat. pretty obvious that this is the westcreek site due to the vantage point in the 2nd rendering showing 1900 and 2000 WLS with Post Oak Central peeking out behind. regardless, this definitely does NOT look like anything more than a conceptual design. agree with whoever said it looks like it belongs in memorial city - the architecture is very cheesy and leaves a lot to be desired. that said, i think we'll be hearing of at least a few as of now unannounced hotel/resi developments in the not too distant future.
  7. Definitely an interesting design. Looks like it's on san Felipe just inside the loop based on those renderings.
  8. To hell with the haif-arazzi naysayers, this thing is awesome. I may seriously consider moving there.
  9. Those will go like hotcakes. That stretch of san Felipe will have a very upper east side feel with all these developments.
  10. you realize this is from July of last year, right?
  11. i've always thought the same thing. Houston Culture is a great idea as is merging the construction/RE subforums.
  12. exactly! this notion that every 20-story building needs to be some sort of architectural wonder is quite perplexing. go take a look at austin - nearly all of their similarly-sized buildings follow the exact same form. imo these are the buildings houston needs right now. once you get up to the 40-story range is when you begin seeing bolder designs.
  13. i like the design of this one a lot - yes, even the garage. at least they're trying to make it less of an eyesore. glad to see more of these "modern" designs popping up as opposed to the more traditional stucco/brick variations so prevalent in Houston.
  14. Oh wow look at that a bunch of chicke-littles bawking in a HAIF thread!
  15. Indeed. Really looking forward to seeing this one and the greystar one in woodland heights.
  16. To think that there will be at least 4 new towers in that last shot by 2017 is pretty freaking cool.
