  1. i am very pleased with the design... looks beautiful.
  2. that was a fun day... didn't have to get into work until 2.
  3. well that's a little harsh... there's something in the works, and has been for a year or so, but there's a few issues to address (such as limited space). but i've seen a preliminary design and floor plans, and the investor is very serious about getting it done.... i just wanted to get some expert opinions on this proposed project, specifically concerning the lot size.
  4. can the mods move the relevant posts from the 35 story twin towers thread? thanks.
  5. things are very, very preliminary at this point. acquiring more land doesn't seem to be an option, unfortunately, but the initial design looked nice. but there isn't much more info about it, outside of what players would be involved... and i'm not going to name names at this point... not until something substantial occurs.
  6. that really is a nice part of town that rarely gets mentioned.... very forested, nice homes, golf courses, schools, etc... funny that it really doesn't have a name, although i've always referred to it as the Lakewood Forest area. and the old Compaq/now HP complex is massive.... like it's own little city.
  7. good lord that building is hideous... i live in tanglewood and see it all the damn time, and everytime i ask myself "how did that monstrosity get approved?" seriously, who was the braintrust that saw that design and said "yep! that's the one! let's get the ball rolling on this sucker!" i mean, they sure as hell cant be native houstonians... right? why would you want to deface your own city landscape like that? it's baffling, really.
  8. slightly off topic.... to anyone that knows the area: what's the feasability of building a 25-30 story high rise in the outlined lot? just curious.... for now. i borrowed your pic, mancuso... if that' all right.
  9. hola... anyone have any advice (or positions... ) for a recent college grad trying to break into the commercial brokerage or development field? i dont have much of a background in commercial real estate or financing, but i do have my real estate license (whatever that's worth) and construction experience, albeit in luxury residential. i realize breaking into this job market can be difficult, but this is something i have a strong passion for (and quite determined). i'd ultimately like to find a mentor to shadow and learn from, hopefully with a large firm with great training resources.... basically, an ideal situation any help whatsoever is greatly appreciated. i will gladly email my resume, if desired.
  10. while race should never be an issue, you could probably infer that the types of bars/clubs that strongly cater more towards minorities are exactly the type of establishments that DT is currently trying to eradicate. helluva a first post.... go me. or second post.
  11. cool thread... always interested to hear about the good old days in houston music history. keep the stories coming. i've got a townes van zandt album called "live at the old quarter - houston, tx." great stuff.
