  1. One of those pictures reminds me a giant Rubics cube. Thanks for sharing those. Looks like a lovely park in the making.
  2. I think people in general are just scarier nowdays. Part of it is real, and part of it is driven by the media that makes it seem like people are waiting to pounce you around every corner, shopping cart, and intersection. LOL
  3. I am not much into malls in the first place, but it is not all that bad.
  4. Is that the one that became the pornorama shop right there by Dillards?
  5. Ooh. When I lived in DC I used to love RR's fried chicken. It was hot, salty, crispy, moist, crunchy ... and their biscuits weren't bad either.
  6. I know in DC many people were upset when the airport was renamed from DC National to Ronald Reagan National (me included ... I thought it was very partisan to do that, but hey ... whatever). Anyhow, it took a long time for people to be comfortable calling it that.
  7. The coolest thing in that picture is the TRAIN!!!! It was one of the first thing I noticed.
  8. And you do know there is a large Muslim, Indian, Pakistani, and Arab population there as well. Many of them business owners as well.
  9. As the economy worsens I think we'll see an uptick in crimes.
  10. I do agree with Judge E in not extending the deadlines for compliance over and over. Either these groups have the backers (and funds) to do the deal or not. If not, then they need to move to another developer. Many times developers will tie up the properties with these extensions while they line up the best financing and other backers. This is unfair to the community and to other developers that might be able to get the deals done as well. I think this is a wise decision.
  11. I thought the concept was to speed people into and out off the Medical Center (or Main Street) area to Ft. Bend. If it's backing up around Post Oak, that seems like a serious design flaw.
  12. That said, I much prefer leaving town (using their services) than coming back. Leaving you always get a shuttle pretty quickly to the terminal, but coming back seems like I have often had to (gasp!) ... wait.
  13. There's one I used before (right there on Jetero ... or whatever they renamed the main street to the airport). It had a nice big lot and even a huge covered carport (that was a little extra per day). Their shuttles were fast and it was easy to get in and out (they used walkie-talkies to expedite pickups, drop offs and such).
  14. Yeah, I was really impressed with the city lots and the shuttles. It is just as good if not better than the private lots.
  15. I like the one that looks like a pig and the one with polka dots. Forget the names.
  16. Not sure about lower-priced stores in that area, but in the Houston area, yes. I find Kroger to be reasonably priced. I am not saying Randall's is exhorbitant, but it is more expensive.
  17. It's a fine location. I think the prices are a bit high, so I wouldn't do full grocery shopping there, but to pick up items from time to time, I like the ambiance and the upper-level Starbucks.
  18. For awhile after Microsoft took over, their site didn't work correctly with Macs and the now-extinct IE browser on the Mac. I think it turned me off then and it has never really been high on my list of daily reads since.
  19. I'm a news junkie and like lots of news from various places: Reuters for bare-bones international reporting, Drudge for off the wall and sometimes right-wing reporting, Drudge RETORT for the opposite, MSNBC for breadth but not necessarily depth ... the list goes on. I don't mind the off-the-wall stories on the front page, because I often get 'the news' from various sources.
  20. I like it overall, but think we need another large ENGLISH daily.
  21. I'm happy that the Houston skyline is growing horizontally. I think we've often focused on the vertical growth ... I would one day like to see 'the skyline' be filled in from downtown all the way to uptown. Now wouldn't that be a site. I like this design alright, but it's nowhere as groundbreaking as the stuff in the 80s ... but then again, we'll probably never see those daring (foolish?) designs again. Times have changed.
  22. Will 'downtown' (not Midtown) ever see a grocery store...? Like a nice Whole Foods or something.
  23. WhooooHoooo! Great milestone. Congrats!
  24. $24 for skirt steak and chili-cheese fries! Damn.
