  1. That sounds pretty awful. I really don't care for malls ... any malls -- for a variety of reasons--, but with behaviors like that, it kinda seals the deal for me.
  2. Wolfgang Puck in Carillion. Gone. See, back then it was just an innocent gesture. Today, he'd have all kinds of cops on his behind for attempted soliciation of minor. Funny how times change, huh?
  3. Snow. And everything's white (not just the people). I've actually heard they have a big Asian and Caribbean population there too. Yeah, it finally has some purpose and perspective. And it matches the colors of GRB. I'm not a big burger person, but I hear everyone talk about the burgers there. Are they REALLY that good?

  7. Yup, I am getting my cartoon sculptures mixed up. I was thinking of that first one. Glad both of them are moved to someplace more appropriate.
  8. Cheesy is good. At least it doesn't have that red, white and blue big bird looking sculpture (now in front of GRB in Discovery Green). That's progress in and of itself.
  9. But those are not listed on their web site as 'Houston'. If someone didn't know Houston metropolitan area, they would not know that those are all the Houston area.
  10. Is this just unsubstatiated rumor? I just went to the Apple web site and they only list 2 stores for Houston (Galleria and Memorial).
  11. Seeing that I haven't even explored Galleria IV (have never even been to the Apple store yet!)....
  12. Definitely not unsafe, but coming in from the North, it is weird (and hard) to get to. You have to go down to another exit, and make a u-turn and then come back. Not worth it in my book.
  13. It's in a really awkward place to and in my opinion, kinda hard to get to.

  16. Understandable. We can all attest to the fact that we want our homes to improve in value and the places where we've sunk a portion of our lives, not just in money, to appreciate in value --schools, community, neighborhoods, retail.
  17. To be honest I wasn't referring to any one person. I wasn't even referring to Willowbrook specifically. I view a lot of these threads and if you were to listen to some of the people that call areas ghetto, trashy, or whatever, you'd really think those areas are on the verge of, or already have become, hopeless, gun-toting, carjacking, crack and meth dealing hives. To hear some people talk the only livable areas --and by extension, the only worthy areas-- of this great city have price tags in excess of $300,000 (and preferably closer to $500,000) ... get real.
  18. No ... I think you and I are in agreement. I guess it just bites when people downgrade an entire swath of an area or city for whatever reason. Some folks do it because, well ...they're snobs and can't imagine living anywhere else other than (fill in the blanks). Others do it because they really are scared to step out of their houses or get fearful when they see someone (or many .. too many?) of a different ethnic or racial group. Some people just like to talk and some people (as I've said in another group) seem to be (or act as) know-it-alls about everything. Everything.
  19. Man, from some of these comments you'd swear I lived in a dump in some ghetto in East LA. Honestly, if I was that fearful of an area I wouldn't have bought a house out here. I guess I have a different level of safety or comfort and while Willowbrook is not my favorite mall (none are really, I am just not a mall person) I am not scared every time I leave my house. In fact, I am one of those people that live closer to 45 off FM 1960 (Ella to be exact). Not every area of Houston is affluent, scrubbed clean, and with double earners making $70,000+ a year. But that does not mean they are ghetto or places to be fearful of. Additionally, to make Champions sound like it is in imminent danger of tilting to something undesirable is unfactual, and short sighted.
  20. Speaking of Champions, I drove south of 1960 the other weekend along Champions Forest Drive. Is that considered "Champions" as well? Beautiful homes there. Actually, some of the ones I saw were simply amazing.
  21. I know it is supposed to be like this nice lake, but it looked really murky.
  22. Imagine that... I am for historic preservation, but let's give it a dignified end.
  23. Yay! I think the weather today was just about perfect. I wish it wouldn't get any hotter or any cooler (except at nite). The could always dip in that swampy thing.
  24. Agreed. I was splitting hairs. It's an odd area. Veterans at FM 1960 is relatively trashy. But a few blocks west you have posh Champions. Further west it gets a little less posh, but I certainly wouldn't compare it to Greenspoint. Not at this point any how. For the record, what I understand, Greenspoint area is undergoing a MAJOR renovation. And not just the mall.
