This still seems like it's not close to going up anytime soon.
  10. In recent weeks, Randall Davis Company rolled out the full website for The Chaucer (or may be named Chaucer.) The website now includes floor plans. The email announcement Hindesky shared notes, "[Chauner's] typical floor plans range from 2 bedrooms with 2.5 bathrooms to 3 bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms, complemented by five luxurious Penthouse residences, resulting in a total of 29 meticulously designed residences." 13. Below are additional renderings of Chaucer. The renderings were recently included to Chaucer's website. Some of the renderings are closer views of the ones from the Houston Business Journal article ChannelTwoNews shared. Additionally, the website (as well as the logo Hindesky posted on page one) seem to indicate the name of this development is Chaucer rather than The Chaucer. Chaucer is one of the latest condominium developments from the Randal Davis Company. It's planned for 2360 Rice Blvd. https://www.chaucerhouston.com/gallery Front entry Kitchen Bathroom
  14. There is a Nextdoor post pertaining to neighbors' thoughts on Chaucer / The Chaucer. Predictably, most who've commented aren't pleased about it. Some feel developments like Chaucer are chipping away the charm of the neighborhood. As mentioned, Chaucer is one of the latest condominium developments from the Randal Davis Company. It's planned for 2360 Rice Blvd. Link to the post on Nextdoor: https://nextdoor.com/p/Qrt8SM63QSZY
  15. Randall Davis Company may be closing on the 2360 Rice Boulevard property soon. That is, if it hasn't already. The Blue Ox Group updated its sales listing for the property to "under contract." County records still show the property is owned by The Oxberry Group. It's likely once the sale is complete (if it is not already,) county records will show a change in ownership. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2360-Rice-Blvd-Houston-TX/29571892/ https://www.crexi.com/properties/1231582/texas-rice-village-land-17500-sf
  16. In a Nextdoor post about The Chaucer (the Randall Davis Company condominiums going up at 2360 Rice Blvd), someone commented about rumored changes planned for Rice Village District. Specifically, the commenter refers to the northwest portion. The portion includes the properties bounded by Kirby Dr, Times Blvd, Kelvin Dr, and Amherst St. Here are their comments. Take it with a grain a salt: My understanding is that there is high rise housing and a parking garage going up in Rice Village between Kirby & Kelvin and Times & Amherst. The current location for the Rice Village Farmers Market. Several retailers and restaurants have had to close and move out. Some say the Beautique building is coming down first and will be a surface parking lot for a while before construction begins on a parking garage. Same for the other section (Brown Bag, Prego) torn down, surface lot, then construction of new residential high rise. I have no idea if any of that is accurate and no one seems to know how many stories high the building might be. The vendors at the Farmers Market think they will stay in the same block - just moving back and forth as construction occurs in different areas. https://nextdoor.com/p/Qrt8SM63QSZY
  17. Below is a parcel map outlining the northwest portion of Rice Village District. The portion outlined includes the properties bordering Kirby Dr, Times Blvd, Kelvin Dr, and Amherst St. Those parcels are: 6121 Kirby Dr 2533 Times Blvd 2504 Amherst St 2540 Amherst St 2550 Amherst St
  18. A close up of the offline units are below. It is specifically of units located in the northwest portion of Rice Village District. That portion includes the properties bordering Kirby Dr, Times Blvd, Kelvin Dr, and Amherst St. Below are previous and/or current tenants of all the units in that portion: 6121 Kirby Dr (previously occupied by El Paso Import Company) 6125 Kirby Dr (previously occupied by MODChic) 6127 Kirby Dr (previously occupied by Chloe Dao) 2518 Times Blvd (occupied by Susan's Nail & Facial / Plush Nails Studio) 2537 Times Blvd (previously occupied by Myth + Symbol) 2535 Times Blvd 2533 Time Blvd 6128 Village Pkwy (previously occupied by Le Peep) 6132 Village Pkwy 6136 Village Pkwy 2520 Amherst St (occupied by Prego) 2528 Amherst St 2532 Amherst St 2534 Amherst St 2542 Amherst St 2540 Amherst St (previously occupied by Brown Bag Deli) 6137 Kirby Dr (previously Lovett Dental) 6135 Kirby Dr 2504 Amherst St (Rice Village Farmers Market) 2507 Times Blvd (previously Beautique) 2504 Amherst St (previously Mecox)
  19. Oooh! Thanks for your insight, @bobruss. I wonder how big of a change will we see? Part of this area's charm are the eclectic shops and buildings. While Rice Management Company doesn't own all the properties surrounding Rice Village District, are they going to acquire more?
  20. Based on the Rice Village District site plan uploaded in September, the former site of The Ginger Man is included. The space at 5607 Morningside Dr is shown as offline. With this week's demolition of structure that housed The Ginger Man, perhaps there's a new tenant lined up. Does anyone have further insight about this?
  21. Another photo snapped after the razing of the former Ginger Man site earlier this week. The photo was shared in a Facebook group. "Blooming anew" and the Rice Village District logo are printed on tarps wrapping the site. As noted a few posts up, Rice University purchased the property in 2020. The Ginger Man was located in Rice Village at 5607 Morningside Dr.
  22. Below is a photo of the former site of The Ginger Man in Rice Village. The photo was taken after the clean up from the demolition earlier this week. 23. A post about the demolition of the building at 5607 Morningside Dr. The Ginger Man operated in Rice Village until its closure a few years ago. https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/topic/52487-morningside-dr-and-university-blvd/?do=findComment&comment=699294 A photo of the demolition shared in a Facebook group earlier this week:
  24. A demolition permit was purchased last week for The Ginger Man. The former beer bar was located at 5607 Morningside Dr. "The beloved bar hit hard times at the beginning of the pandemic and closed in the spring of 2020. Rice University bought the property in June 2020," according a 2021 Houston Chronicle article. At the time, management noted they're "still evaluating the building to determine what needs to be done to find a new tenant." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/food-culture/article/Permanently-closed-Ginger-Man-awaits-its-fate-16132297.php
  25. Thanks for the updates pertaining to The Ginger Man, the former beer bar that occupied 5607 Morningside Dr. However, I don't think the 5607 Morningside Dr parcel is related to the development planned here. I understand Rice University owns the 5607 Morningside Dr parcel. Still, based on site plans for Rice Village, the former Ginger Man site is part of Rice Village (the shopping center). Notice the location is included in the site plan below. It's marked offline (lower right corner below the Badolina unit and parking). The site plan was published in September by the development's retail leasing agent The Blue Ox Group.
