  1. Glad this one went this way! Looking forward to seeing it developed.
  2. Lots of good discussion at the BAC Infrastructure meeting yesterday. They did mention that Commerce would be the next major city-tackled project. Based on some of the drawings I saw at the Eado TIRZ meeting awhile back, I think the plan is to effectively extend the Harrisburg Trail with a multi-use path with some type of greenery buffer. Some type of infrastructure would extend up to Austin St to connect to the bike lane there and Buffalo Bayou. I ride this everyday on the way to work, and this has real potential to be a game changer for anyone else that might bike commute. Commerce is so rough that I've literally had some screws shake out of my bike. They also talked about adding a lane going up San Jacinto to Wood St as part of the canal project.
  3. FYI: the revised general plan is just shifting an alignment of one of the streets on the east side by about 10' or so, so very minor change.
  4. I'm really not sure what the best use for this site would be. Effectively zero on-site parking available. The site to the east is at least partially used by a metal fabrication shop.
  5. Didn't grab a pic, but brick was going up on the front of the structure along Polk.
  6. Went back and they still haven't recorded the plat. It doesn't expire until first week of July, though. They'll have to get a separate permit for the cedar tree as it appears to be in the city ROW. Basically, it isn't their tree to tear down.
  7. I seem to remember talk of a ferry to shuttle people to downtown, but that looks way too steep to comfortably walk down.
  8. This is from two days ago. Second story of sticks being started on the peninsula. Love how fast this is going up. Random data point, by my wife's hairdresser is in her early 20s and her studio is near the Heights. Currently lives in Midtown, but wanted to move to Eado but didn't there wasn't a 1BR apartment that met what she wanted for price and amenities so she ended up at the Chelsea Museum District. I have to think that this complex would have met her requirements if it were open. Forth at Navigation was more $$$ for a similar unit after incentives, which is kind of crazy.
  9. Fix coming in the next 1-3 years based on TIRZ project! yeah.... that's probably going to take awhile unless someone comes up with $100 milly for it.
  10. First night for sale on their website is Sunday, July 9. https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/houox-moxy-houston-downtown/overview/
  11. Opening date is May 17: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/food-culture/restaurants-bars/article/little-s-oyster-bar-pappas-restaurants-18095818.php
  12. Was chatting with a coworker about this, and she said her mother is actually one of the people that plans on moving there!
  13. Don't think this is happening on 5/11. Frequently signs are put up and then something isn't ready. This is what was approved here in 2018, but wasn't recorded. They also had requested a 5' variance along Polk that was granted:
  14. Thank y'all for talking me down off of the ledge. This is basically on Navigation about 8-10 blocks east of Lockwood.
  15. They were basically driving one of the few vehicles where it is at least feasible. Current gen 911 Turbo S does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. 0-100 in 5.1 seconds and it takes about 400 ft. The crosswalk on the westbound side of Weshtimer/Montrose to the crosswalk at Waugh (right before Voodoo) is 440'. So even from a stop they could have been doing 100 MPH. From a 30 or 40 MPH roll it would have been pretty easy to get to 100. Of course you'd have to be insane or drunk and just stomp it because you probably aren't making the turn, but it is feasible. 16. Well... that's awkward. You are totally right. I took one of Hindesky's other drone shots and marked where it will actually be: The X is the approximate location of the drainage spillway and the red line is the alignment with Gregg, so it is quite a bit further down.
  17. Normal cars are wider than the lanes on Westheimer. It is kind of crazy to me to think that an agency as big as Metro would buy a bus specific for one section of one route that is slightly narrower than allowed. Especially when the plan is to remove that substandard sized lane.
  18. Sorry, just realized I bumped a thread with no activity for almost a year without an actual update. I ride my bike by this site every day on the way to/from work and I don't think I've seen a single iota of activity. Edit: they are also going to need to plat, so we'll get a plat well before any real construction sites if anything does start to happen.
  19. We can squash this possible rumor. New practice facility going up in the Galleria area
  20. Based on the Buffalo Bayou East Master Plan, there does appear to be a pedestrian bridge across the bayou at this location: The picture you posted is aligned with Gregg St. No idea if East River is planning on paying for the proposed bridge.
  21. Delano is on the Major Thoroughfare & Freeeway Plan to be widened to become an 80' Major Collector (double lines on the map below are to-be-widened). In order to cross the rail tracks and Harrisburg a bridge is needed. There are no imminent plans to do so, but it is something to be considered.
  22. As mentioned above, the item was deferred by the planning commission and will be heard next week. The public comment packet showed almost exclusively comments against granting the parking variance. It is really easy to submit a public comment. Just include a name and your quick thoughts here: speakercomments.pc@houstontx.gov Just mention 2711 Harrisburg Parking Variance
