  1. For what its worth... a "Lower Heights" sign is up on the feeder road. I kind of dig it. Sorry i didn't grab a picture.
  2. You're missing the new Preston apartment building.
  3. I couldn't agree more. The current aquarium location has served them well, but this makes more sense on the east side / near the touristy stuff.
  4. what old building are they 'incorporating'... i know there are some they tore down... Maybe that counts? hah.
  5. the drain that most downtown roads have..
  6. Good catch there! I did not see this... I was / am hoping for a mostly masonry exterior. I do recall the mock up looking promising! We shall see the extent of the brick work soon.
  7. I have a not so great feeling this will be stucco... No ledge for brick to rest on. Means this very large beast will potentially be disappointing in materials and appearance.
  8. I think the East end will be changing a lot over the next 20 years. There is momentum there. The botanical garden will help. EADO stuff will help. Houston's Urban revitalization will help... I hope Eastwood looks ahead and protects itself from people coming in and wrecking havoc. Heights has managed to keep it's roots, despite the fact you see some major developments there. I think Eastwood can do the same with some thought and preparation. Min lot size / historic district / deeds / management district / tirz... all these things can help. I wouldn't trust developers' ability to best protect the area...
  9. You must be in First Ward. I am in 6th Ward. There is certainly a lot of density in our area. I hope we continue to improve and preserve green-space. It IS amazing how many birds are around... Although I think these primitive/prelim renderings may show a worse aesthetic than reality, I am not especially excited about this either. Density here is OK, but I don't want these kinds of buildings to creep into the neighborhoods. I hope the homes to remain in-tact. This lot is generally horrible, so whatever goes in, was going to be a little squirrelly.
  10. that head in parking on Dunlavy is not going to work, even though the existing structure has that parking existing.
  11. that is a great analogy. working downtown is great.
  12. kind of looks like the same, boring glass as Hines' other buildings. I hope the variety in the renderings comes through in the materials...
  13. Here is a cool link i found. They definitely applied and it was pending in late January... https://www.thc.texas.gov/public/upload/preserve/national_register/draft_nominations/Battelstein's NR - SBR Draft.pdf https://www.nps.gov/subjects/nationalregister/pending-list-20191228.htm
  14. That means they will seek historic restoration tax credits... good. How did you find this out?
  15. It has been a year and still no word. Does anyone have any information on this?
