    I counted at least 7 cranes while sitting on 59 in traffic behind the convention center. How great is that part of our skyline going to look by 2016/2017!

    The day uptown becomes a ghost town we are all in trouble. The density there is big enough to sustain itself. Plus, I don't see tourists (Mexico nationals etc) abandoning Uptown for EC. I do think it's great to take some of the pressure off of the Galleria area and for this huge city to have other options.

    Look - Randall has good ideas, and a dream. Just not great execution. He has added a lot of residential buildings. My issue is not one of his buildings (Not even ONE) has been well thought out in how it relates to the buildings around it. Many times he forgets that they are tall, and can be seen on four sides. Just spend a bit more and make it right. In the scope of his projects a 2-3% added cost for architecual details (real ones) would make a big difference. He would be great in Vegas or maybe even Beaumont. We deserve better.

    The top ends abrubtly, in my opinion. If it had a spire or something it would have been a big improvement. That being said, there is a clear market for his stuff - not much I can add to that.

    I concur. Let's bet on how ugly and cheap looking it could be? He absolutely is the lowest common denominator on looks, materials and design. What he does get, unfortunately, is location location location. As we say "dammit it all".

    Just heard from a staff member at Super Cuts that they have been given notice to move out due to an impending sale. Any one have an inside on this?

    DAKOTA79. It's not going to the roads. A tank is needed to navigate virtually every street. Then, they tear up every good road at the same time so there are no options even for the seasoned Houstonian. And rail? 8 miles. Whew. That's a big help. Thanks Metro, Culberson, Delay. Etc etc etc.

    That looks huge! I was stuck at that light yesterday there and that part of Montrose definitely needs to be redeveloped.

    From what I heard l, between the upkeep and taxes on the common area land the owners (many older) wanted out and all voted to put the functionally obsolete project on the market. They picked a great time to do so, IMHO.

    I like how the Uptown Tirz has committed $100-150M. That gives this a real chance. It's nice to have such a vision for this important park as our city becomes more dense.

    That would look cool, but it would also eliminate pedestrian traffic. And we need more of that! Plus the Galleria doesn't own the land that the Hyatts are being built on. I was in the Galleria today and if anyplace needs a walkway it is from Dillard's to Neimans. Speaking of (rambling) why is the Dillard's even still there? That whole place could be redeveloped!

    I haven't predicted any traffic flow issues. I think they will regret it because once it is in (maybe in our lifetimes if we are young enough) people will use it to go the the galleria and downtown - and Afton Oaks will be left out. (As they should be)

    The Westheimer lines will all come down. Unfortunately there are now 8 new huge poles on the southern end of the project on Peckham (4 on each side) and pitifully in true Houston fashion they will remain.

    I will ask her tomorrow about the closing date. I already asked who the buyer is and will let you know as soon as I find out. This is very new info.

    I was told by a resident that the entire property has sold to an Indian investor. She said they have 60 days to move out and that it will be developed into high rises. I am trying to get more info.

    I just heard from a co-worker that all 112 units have been sold to a foreign investor. It's approximately 3.5 acres and it will be highrises. I don't know how to add a photo or I would. The last MLS sale in there was www.har.com/44634356. The homeowners have 60 days to move out.
